Time to start gaiter pulling as a practice. Make wands with a little silicon hand on the end. They'll drop everything to get that gaiter pulled back up.

Reframe the sentiment as “you only need two video games” and see how quickly the white American male gets involved in politics.

Episode 3 of The Rehearsal this year might be the funniest television I've seen in my lifetime.

Is he...consciously doing Trump's weird lip-pucker thing?

Right because they are not running for re-election. I don’t know how else to say this. They. Aren’t. Running. For. Reelection.

Community college professors have been left to play detective has their online courses fill up with fake students as part of a financial aid scheme. voiceofsandiego.org/2025/04/14/a...

Tristan Jarry is chaotic

WI exit polling response to the question "Who do you trust more to handle a crisis?" was 52% Trump, 47% Harris (1,311 respondents). That's wild.

The way he and his people have been acting lately...this ends in The Hague.

1. Alex Ovechkin, 895 goals in 1,487 games 2. Wayne Gretzky, 894 goals in 1,487 games Take a bow. Especially for doing it while going on a heater.

Another horrible thing that Citizens United ushered in was this kind of resistance grift of raising huge amounts of money from well-meaning out-of-state libs desperate to help curb Trump on extreme long-shot campaigns.

Ovechkin scored 894 goals in fewer games than Gretzky (by 1!), in a trap league with big butterfly goalies and more season interruptions than an AMC show. He might be the only one among his regular teammates to make the HHOF, unless the voters are unusually kind to either Backstrom or Carlson.

I've always held that McKay Coppins' works on Trump before & into the 1st term are the standard for explaining the guy (& that we don't need more on the subject). Take this piece from '14: www.buzzfeed.com/mckaycoppins... Ironically, the one thing Coppins misses is Trump's presidential aspirations.

Gutted to hear today's news that the hockey world has lost Bruce McCurdy. A great writer, and a guy whose love of the game bled through all of his work. RIP Bruce.

Kinda feel like something happened in the middle of that time that wasn't so great

As someone who has written a little about performance and legislative politics, I am begging people to stop using "performative" pejoratively. Politics *is* performance. All human interaction is performance.

NHL power plays are the best they've been in 40 years prashanthiyer.substack.com/p/nhl-power-...

For all the South gets shit about the failures of reconstruction, the North doesn’t get called out enough on its lack of resolve. They won’t even defend their own backyards. Rural life has been so throughly Confederatized that you’re more likely to see a Confederate flag in rural NY than Atlanta.

There's little reason to think his next four years aren't going to look like his 2016-2020 years, administratively. Which means he will test the courts as much as possible, dismantle and grift and corrupt as much as possible, and the most vulnerable will feel it acutely.

Congressional Democrats need to see this as a fight for their lives. Like there will be no bigger fight in their lifetimes.

One of the things that gets me with the Cyber trucks that also eats at me about "stainless" kitchen appliances: the finger smudges. If you look at the door edges you can see the smudges, it's like they all have toddlers.

You say you want to "make America great again" but do you really want to revisit the horror of the Air Bud trials

Lanny McDonald at age 22 looks like a railroad conductor

The Montgomery Bus Boycott started as a one day action. When Dr. King and other organizers saw how successful it was, they organized, extending the boycott for more than a year, won a victory, and integrated the city buses. (shout out to Dr. Aldon Morris for reminding me of this).

BABYYYYY lmao. You are God’s strongest soldier cause I said on a livestream on Thursday bitches will take 15 vitamins a day but wont wear a mask or get vaccinated

Consistently a great read.

If we come out of this without realizing this is what it looks like when a "businessman" takes political office, we'll be in a spot like this again too soon after. A businessman doesn't care about your economy, he cares about his.

Pretty much every play-by-play bio of an American player goes, "He hails from <suburb>, just outside of <major city>." White flight wasn't always such an important subtext of the U.S. squad, but it sure is now (partly) bc the game is so damn expensive to play stateside.

I am capturing this in-case it's taken down. This is real. This happened. The cruelty is the point.

One thing I've really grappled with in recent years is how highly-rated defenseman prospects are going into the NHL Draft. Much in the same way that goalies have dropped out (or to the bottom) of the 1st round, D seem like they should be artificially lower for their uncertainty, too. 1/3

Well, on a positive note, kinda cool The Science of Sleep was one of the films selected to stream for free on YouTube. Quirky little film with Gondry and Bernal still in the peak of their careers.

"Game used."
