I don't even need to look at data on this - my most common request to online help bots is "How do I contact a human support person?" Ironically, I can usually get a better answer by directly asking ChatGPT "How can I contact a human at [whatever company]?" AI has better use cases than this.

Before you have kids, you think over anxious "helicopter" parents who worry themselves sick and monitor every move their kids make are hilarious. Once you have kids, you wrap them in cotton wool, obsess over crime rates and look into purchasing tracking collars.

Not so long ago, people were amazed at the realism in AI photos. Then we learned to spot misspelled words, missing fingers, and so on. Now that AI images are much better, we can usually spot them instinctively, anyway - there is something that just looks like AI. 1/

My wife pointed out that Posh Spice really is a real lady now, and it’s totally scrambled my noodle.

Contrary to the stereotype, Brits don’t complain about the cold and the heat of summer. Half of us hate the cold, and the other half detest hot weather. Everybody gets to complain about one or the other, never both.

Being republican, I had no idea today was King Charles III’s official birthday, with its annual military parade. The timing of Trump’s copycat celebrations couldn’t be more ironic.

Just seen Reid Hoffmann’s LinkedIn video about how to get a job in 2025. That the founder of the world’s biggest jobs board feels he has to make a video like this is a damning signal about where the job market’s heading.

The additional funding for the NHS is beyond welcome, particularly the large increase in technology funding. There is a question around suppliers: Will this new money be open to competition from new innovators, or has it been quietly earmarked for already planned projects? 1/

Given how often I’ve been wasted in hotel suites and not injured myself, I’d have thought they’d be relatively baby safe. Alas, no.

Some things just escalate really quickly.

It’s 2037, most online banking still hasn’t updated its security since 2009.

Thinking that more working class people kneeling before a royal will alleviate class issues is arse backwards. We should abolish gongs, titles and monarchs. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Jony Ive popping into the limelight again is a reminder that Apple's former design juggernaut is British... so why don't Apple customers in the UK have a plug you can actually grip and remove from the sodding wall?

Sorry iPlayer, I have news…

Don't worry about tariffs, Europe has its bribe ready

20 years ago I wouldn't have dreamed of a yurt at Glasto. Now, I wouldn't attend unless I had a cottage with a shower and a wine cooler. This is why music festivals must target the young - us oldies literally take up more space.

Is there some weird sub cultural thing around newsletter writers not putting contact details on their about pages?

This far into decolonisation, the self-determination of a dis-empowered group is being denied. The Chagos Islands belong to the Chagossians. Only they should decide their future, not Britain and Mauritius. Shame all round, including the UN for its position on this. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cl...

I don't know if writers can turn off the unsolicited "Recommendations from your substacks" emails, but this trivial annoyance is the single reason I'm less inclined to subscribe to writers using the platform.

"To whom it may concern" - weak, ignorable "To whom it will concern" - strong, confident "Listen up, fucknuts!" - LinkedIn level 2 unlocked

LinkedIn’s ‘who your viewers also viewed’ feature is pretty useless for those of us with common names - it’s just other Ben Clarkes.
