Sunday afternoon comics- Jack Harris, Al Milgrom, and Murphy Anderson (with dynamite Joe Kubert cover art) on this 1978 three-issue Showcase arc. Solid Bronze Age Hawkman/Adam Strange story šŸš€

I am really trying to cut down on my comics purchases but I saw this Thor annual with Walt Simonson art and my mind told me I needed to have it.

We had our neighborhood yard sale yesterday, and in the pursuit of clearing space in our attic I decided to put out these old dvd’s of mine for 50 cents a piece. But no one bought any! So I’m a couple bucks lighter and starting to seriously doubt my neighbor’s cinematic taste…

I broke a jazz rule and went "full elevatorā€ last night. When I finished the tune I thought I was gonna hear a voice say "Thank you for waiting on hold with Xfinity.ā€ šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Saturday afternoon comic-

It’s a hot one!

Whoah. The Ice Cream Man team is doing a Superman miniseries this August-

I’ve been on a big Primus kick lately. I think these guys are one of the most consistently interesting rock bands of the last 40 years and are still putting out bangers. I saw them play "Conspiranoiaā€ live last year and really dug the Pink Floyd vibe and biting lyrics.

These Godzilla vs Marvel one-shots have been top-tier so far. Really fun summer comics!

Revisited Batman: Face The Face last night- Sort of a messy, uneven arc that seems like its main objective was to reset the status quo after Infinite Crisis and act as a placeholder before Grant Morrison took over the series. But there are some strong moments and solid art scattered in there.

Can’t get enough of this @jerryordway.bsky.social Godzilla vs Spider-Man cover- Amazing! šŸ†

Still think it’s wild how well DC pulled this one off- It shouldn’t be surprising considering the writers and Keith Giffen’s choice layouts, but the fact that they not only got this weekly series out but also gave us (IMHO) one of the best DC series of the 2000’s is just incredible.

My brother Nick is a behavioral disease ecologist who studies animal/parasite interactions and "zombie fungus.ā€ He just made a video with the Emerging Pathogens Institute exploring the science behind The Last of Us. Nick’s also a massive horror fan so it’s great seeing his two passions intersect.

Fun weekend on Daufuskie- It rained a lot (especially on the boat ride home), but it was still nice to get away from civilization for a couple days and explore the island. #daufuskie

Walked down to the beach on Daufuskie this morning-

Playing some shows out on Daufuskie Island this weekend-

Would have actually liked to see this Justice League line-up stick around for more than one issue

In the broadest analogy, this series sort of feels like the Black Mirror of comics. But instead of technology and sci-fi tropes, Monkey Meat tackles comics culture, corporate IP, and entertainment conglomerates. And it’s boasts some of the most dynamic artwork I’ve seen in years. So good.

Always a great feeling when two of your favorite creators have new comics out on the same day- @therightram.bsky.social @juniba.bsky.social #ncbd #wereadscomics

One of my favorite recent reprints- This treasury edition facsimile is just distilled Bronze Age goodness and Adams, Novick, and Giordano’s art shines in the oversized format. Top-tier collection of Batman stories šŸ†

The third episode of the new season of Nathan Fielder’s The Rehearsal is possibly the best tv I’ve seen this year.
