To the Golden office staffer who answers the phone Friday mornings: Looking forward to chatting with you again. đź«©

don't get tired. get mad.

If that’s what they do to a US Senator with a question, imagine what they do to farm workers, day laborers, cooks, and the other nonviolent immigrants they are targeting in California and across the country. Or any American that dares to speak up. I will not stop fighting to demand accountability.

this is a good wake up call for elected Dems to realize what’s happening and what’s going to happen not generally, not in the abstract, but to them personally shut it all down and start acting like you’re in immediate danger, because you are

Google tells us there's a moderate thunderstorm warning today in Reading but the good news is that our founders wisely prepared for this by building a roof. Come and marvel at how dry it is at The Museum of English Rural Life.

They're booing Donald Trump at the Kennedy Center.

two years ago today I encountered this all-timer of marquee placement at the movie theater:

#TimelineCleanse 🪶💖 It's 75°F. You're sitting on the deck, drenched in the heady scent of blooming lilac, watching the hairy woodpeckers take turns feeding their nestling, who is keeping up a steady robust begging call. Here, Dad prepares to deliver a hunk of suet.

Peaceful protest against ICE in Spokane is happening at 411 W Cataldo after the detainment of a young man who went to his hearing. Over a dozen protestors are sitting in front of the bus , prepared to be arrested. The bus windshield has been spray painted

We are cooked. Get your vaccines while you can.

Some needed good news: “The Trump administration has reversed the firings of hundreds of staffers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including those who work in divisions that handle cruise ship safety, sexually transmitted infection prevention, and global health.” Keep speaking out!

For years, I've long said that climate.gov's team of remarkable communicators (& their amazing blogs, which were accessible but did not "dumb down" the science!) was NOAA's best (& most cost effective!) public-facing extreme #weather / #climate education effort to date. This will be a huge loss.

BREAKING: A few minutes ago, a vehicle of three people was rammed by a truck belonging to federal immigration authorities in Boyle Heights, CA. According to security footage shown to me, they deployed chemical munitions & detained the driver at gunpoint. All are US citizens according to the wife.

RESULT: Democrats defend a legislative seat in Oklahoma (HD71) by a massive margin, 85% to 15%. This was a district that voted for Harris by 19% in November, so this is a huge shift toward Dems of 51 percentage points.

The five cities are reportedly Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, "northern Virginia" - by which I presume they mean DC - and New York City.

Trump’s actions and his inactions would be the precise conduct of someone whose goal was to destroy our country. We need to face what that means.

The book proposal I'm currently working on is about a general theory of crises. So far my research is pointing toward the conclusion that the most important thing to do is to **understand that you are in a crisis** and that the normal rules which serve well in normal conditions may not apply.

There's a lot to unpack here. But the "why do people in the developed world die from chronic diseases at higher rates than in poorer countries" is because we survive long enough to die from chronic rather than infectious disease. This is epidemiology 101. It's not a mystery.

THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT IN LOS ANGELES. Surely that sentence should slam everything down. Y'all. Y'ALL.

Well, that was certainly an exciting way to confirm that central Florida's tornado warning system is no longer fully functional, right at the start of hurricane season.

Maddow: I also feel like there’s not very much about that that I don’t understand. Like, it’s the same everywhere. This is blond Berlusconi, you know what I mean? This is inarticulate Viktor Orbán, right? These guys are all the same. The authoritarian playbook is the same everywhere

thinking about how the last bit of Democratic messaging before this moment was “TACO Trump”

I couldn't NOT do this.

CoRE at Mount Sinai in NY is recruiting for a rapamycin clinical trial for #LongCOVID. Participants will take the drug or a placebo for 12 weeks and be required to visit the clinic in person 5 times over a 6-month period. Contact: [email protected].

Measles titers are good but going for my Tdap this week bc it's been a minute since my last tetanus shot. Getting COVID boosted too. Good on Shingrix for another 5 years. If you've been putting off any vax, get them now. For those who can't access vaccines as much as for yourself.

My friends, I have been excessively doomscrolling and doom-reposting and so here is the whiteboard drawing I left for my office roomie to find tomorrow morning. #TimelineCleanse
