2 drake Garganey at Brockholes on No1 Pit this morning. #LancsBirding

A periodic check of an east Lancashire singing male Wood Warbler saw it firmly on territory for at least the 9th day, totally undisturbed thus far to the best of my knowledge and hopefully it’ll remain that way. Fingers crossed it pairs up. #LancsBirding

My fourth mixed-singer Willow Warbler of the spring, a record total for me.This bird was seen and looked like a coldish toned Willow Warbler. The other 3 I haven’t seen but assumed Willow on account of the dominant component of the song. Many other folk coming across these this spring? #UKBirding

For a northern birder like Me spending time in the New Forest these past 2.5 days, the regular sound of singing Firecrest has been nothing short of amazing with a supporting cast of regular Cuckoo, Tree Pipits, Redstarts & Marsh Tits. Also Nightjar, roding Woodcock, Crossbill & Woodlark. #UKBirding

A species I haven’t seen for many years is Dartford Warbler, so it was a priority to see and reacquaint myself with song and call whilst down in Hampshire. #UKBirding

Five hours at Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve. A new species for me, the female Hudsonian Godwit showed well. Great bird! c10 Med Gull around, but very surprised not to see any nesting amidst the Black-headed Gull colony from Meon Hide… Little Tern offshore. 54 species BirdTracked. #UKBirding

Afternoon-mid evening at RSPB Middleton Lakes: Turnstone, Ringed Plover, two Bittern flights, several Hobby, Marsh Harrier and Great Egret amongst 76 species BirdTracked. #UKBirding

It’s with many times more hope than expectation nowadays that I venture into east Lancashire woodland hoping to come across a singing Wood Warbler, but today I did and it made my day. #LancsBirding

Enjoyed watching a pair of Dipper busily feeding a brood in the nest. #LancsBirding

Really glad I decided to pay homage to the WWT Slimbridge singing male White-spotted Bluethroat. An absolutely fantastic bird. #UKBirding

First visit to WWT Steart Marshes/Steart Point 13:00-21:00 yesterday saw 64 species BirdTracked with selected highlights of Blue-headed Wagtail, 20+ Yellow Wagtail, 5 Greenshank, 47 Whimbrel, Cattle Egret, 3 Lesser Whitethroat. 7 Cattle Egret this morning and seemingly many fewer Flavas. #UKBirding

Prolonged, educational views at distance of the RSPB Ham Wall Red-footed Falcon hawking alongside Hobbies (25+ for the day). Photos of Purple Heron flights over both Ham Wall/Shapwick past 3 days show I’ve seen same bird with gap in secondaries on left wing. Grass Snakes a great bonus! #UKBirding

Finally caught up with presumably the RSPB Ham Wall female Red-footed Falcon, currently perched at Meare Heath, Shapwick Heath 08:20 at least. #UKBirding

The Purple Heron at Shapwick Heath NNR, Somerset continued to entertain today. c25 Hobby Shapwick/RSPB Ham Wall reserves, largest flock 15, plus the long staying Glossy Ibis at the latter. #UKBirding

1. Dear bird folk, I am hoping to sell some of my lovely bird books and annual reports. I am open to offers. Images attached in the hope that someone out there may be interested. Would folk mind reposting for me in the hope it reaches as many people as possible. Thank you. 🙏🏻 #BirdingGear

The 2CY Purple Heron at Shapwick Heath NNR this morning showed better for a short time before heading further out into the Meare Heath reedbed. A count of 15 Hobby hawking mid-PM and 4 Cattle Egret flew through. 60 species BirdTracked. #UKBirding

Made up to jam in on this imm Purple Heron at Meare Heath, Shapwick Heath NNR, Somerset this morning. #UKBirding

Another afternoon at RSPB Middleton Lakes was well worth it for the Hobby fest, with 13 hawking early-mid PM. Nice views of Whinchat, Grasshopper Warbler and two Bittern flights. 66 species BirdTracked. #UKBirding

76 species BirdTracked during an afternoon/early evening visit to RSPB Middleton Lakes with highlights of Wood Sandpiper, Curlew Sandpiper, Sanderling, 6 Ringed Plover, Dunlin, 6 Hobby, Red Kite, 2 Bittern, Cuckoo, Grasshopper Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat. #UKBirding

An Osprey and one of five singing male Garden Warbler at Brockholes this morning was followed by some local Gulling… Suffice to say I didn’t find the Cape Gull! #LancsBirding

Great to see my first local Hobbies of 2025 this morning and a 2CY Peregrine #LancsBirding

At least 7 Swift at Brockholes this morning. #LancsBirding

49 species BirdTracked on a full circuit of Draycote Water, Warwickshire this afternoon. Sadly a day late for the big numbers of Arctic Tern but thankfully two remained. Also 5 Common Tern, ad Little Gull, 3 Red Kite, 2 Raven, 5 Green Woodpecker, Garden Warbler, 3 Yellow Wagtail. #UKBirding

A wander round Brockholes this morning yielded three yearticks: Common Tern (2), Grasshopper Warbler (2) and Garden Warbler (1)... #LancsBirding

A Whinchat at Brockholes this morning (18/4) is the earliest reserve record by two days, 1999-2025. Previous earliest: 1 on 20th-21st Apr 2003. #LancsBirding

Inside the fabulous Peggy Braithwaite Hide at South Walney Nature Reserve. A wonderful job by all involved. 👏 @cumbriawildlife.bsky.social

A circuit of South Walney NR, Cumbria this evening saw 55 species BirdTracked inc a surprise flock of c2000 Scoter c1mile out from the south end, Merlin catching Dunlin & my 1st Whimbrel of the year. Earlier, an impressive count of 87 Red-throated Diver on the Duddon Estuary at high tide… #UKBirding

A stroke of luck with this Red Kite today as it appeared in my binoculars many times higher than the 3 Swallows I was watching at the time. Still scarce in Lancs, it’s great to see sightings of Red Kite on the increase in the county, this being my 6th locally in less than a year. #Lancsbirding

The first (that I’m aware of) Pied Flycatcher and Tree Pipit in east Lancs today. Also an arrival of Common Sandpiper on multiple waterbodies overnight. #LancsBirding
