this, from @wyofile.com, is the best story I’ve read on the future of the USGS Co-op Units: wyofile.com/trumps-liqui...

Mississippi banned deer feeders because they may help spread chronic wasting disease. In response to doubts about whether feeders were riskier for CWD transmission than other areas, researchers conducted a study using camera traps and swabs.

A new fisheries MS is out in the world! Maddy Siller successfully defended her MS research on how fish habitat quality has changed through time. Congratulations Maddy!

This isn't going to get the attention of Columbia, but it's at least as bad: the University of Maine is having its funding cut off because the governor of Maine dared to challenge Trump.

Among the other great points in this statement, “Every dollar spent on conservation in the US has a positive return of 2.4 times its original investment.” Conserving natural resources is good business. 🐟🐠🎣

Making a difference in your community, within your circle, or to your friends/colleagues is where it all starts

The American Fisheries Society stands strong in our support of the federal fisheries professionals who serve as the stewards of our aquatic natural resources. Read our new statement on the Future of Public Trust Resources: fisheries.org/2025/02/futu...

The National Park Service fired many of its park rangers as part of a reduction in the federal work force. Some rangers decided it was worth the risk to speak out online about the cuts and share their love of the Park Service. “It’s scary, but it was the right thing to do.”

It is tough to do sea lamprey control in the US waters of the Great Lakes when front line control agents are fired. Just one of the consequences associated with random terminations of environmental professionals in the US. www.bridgemi.com/michigan-env...

Please retweet and share. A badass friend helped make this website‼️🎉 They need stories on the purge of important people by DoGE and Trump. peopletrumpfired.com

Brian Gibbs had no clue Friday would be his last day at his dream job. The education technician park ranger at Effigy Mounds National Monument in Iowa reported to work, only to be terminated on despite receiving an exceptional performance evaluation in the fall.

I just got a report that a terminated employee from another agency got their job back after replying to the termination email with their good perf appraisal. If you are still connected, might as well try. It makes for good documentation if nothing else. Let me know. So far only this one anecdote.

This comment on r/fednews really stood out to me. Trump and Musk want people to think they're firing do-nothing "bureaucrats," but they're really getting rid of people dedicated to serving this country and keeping it operational. I hope these stories get told.

Our parks are in chaos. We’ve seen firsthand how Trump’s hiring freeze, the rescinding of hundreds of job offers, and the layoff of 5% of NPS staff have left us overwhelmed and short-handed.
