Holy crap this is great! Really shows the stakes. Kudos to @johnmoralestv.bsky.social John: You’ll have to let us know if you got any angry messages.

Thanks for sharing. With all the tumult in the world it is nice to start the day reading a classic poem, and about baseball, nonetheless.

Thought-provoking quote from @atmostaj.bsky.social during the Weather and Climate Livestream about the role of "serendipity" in scientific discovery and the importance of having a broadly funded scientific enterprise that allows for it. wclivestream.com/watch/

“It’s hard to think of a more anti-conservative figure than President Donald Trump or a more anti-conservative movement than MAGA,” writes Peter Wehner. “The Trump administration is a thugocracy, and the Republican Party he controls supports him”:

There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd. It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

Please make a comment on this NOW (they are due tomorrow). We can't let NIH and NSF POs and division directors become political appointees--this will completely destroy science.

This is extraordinary. The Secretary of Homeland Security doesn’t know what the right of habeas corpus is (the ancient right to go to court to challenge government detention) and offers an incoherent definition which suggests she thinks it’s a presidential power to deport people?

The fix is to require real pollution reductions. This is not snark, these authors have been saying this for 15 years and they have been right the whole time.
