Years ago, "Tarzan Boy" hooked me on the Italian musical group Baltimora. While listening to their album once, it struck me that it paired well with the Mario Kart footage I was watching. So I developed a pastime of playing Mario Kart while listening to Baltimora. I call it "Baltimario Kart".

Miyamoto on Mario '93 circa 2014: "I wouldn't say it destroyed the worldview. Works that can be interpreted in different ways through the artists voice like that are interesting." From NHK

Keiichi Suzuki, who co-composed MOTHER 1 and 2, is also the frontman of a band that's been around since the 1970s. They're called the Moonriders, and I've recently gone through their discography. Arranged by personal preference, here's my tier list of their studio albums and some of their EPs.

Shot in the dark, but I'm looking for a scan of the Japanese manual for Super Adventure Island II (高橋名人の大冒険島II, “Master Takahashi's Great Adventure Island II”). I specifically need the page about the game’s story. There's A LOT of English localization weirdness involving the hero's love interest 😅

And now for something different from what I normally archive. This is "The Ultimate Guidebook to Twin Peaks", and it's chock-full of essays on #TwinPeaks, interviews with some of the Japanese dub actors and other celebrities, and episode guides (and many other things). archive.org/details/the-...

I've never played #FinalFantasyVI... until now. I've been meaning to for ages, but it's my wife (@jessicamudd.bsky.social)'s favorite game so I FINALLY took the plunge. Hear my rambly reactions as Jess and I discuss this legendary RPG: www.mothershewrote.earth/earthboundbe...

And now for something completely different! In this episode Cat and Jess share a status update on season 1 but mostly tend to some unfinished business: Cat finally played Jess' favorite game: Final Fantasy VI!

わんぱっくコミックス謎の村雨城 [Wanpaku Comics Mysterious Murasame Castle] has been scanned and archived, enjoy! archive.org/details/wanp...

TRACK HIGHLIGHT - Cease To Exist Sessions began as four separate tracks by each member of the band before being cut into a medley. This is conceptually and sonically the heaviest track on the album and a fan favourite for over 50 years. Listen here: thechosenfour.bandcamp.com/track/cease-...

TRACK HIGHLIGHT - Winters White An early version of this track was recorded late in 1973- finished in April '74. The harpsichord was the only instrument not recorded at Monotoli Studios and was instead recorded at Ninten's home in Podunk. Listen here: thechosenfour.bandcamp.com/track/winter...

TRACK HIGHLIGHT - Because I Love You Sessions for this track took place between Feb and Oct 1974. The brass section was provided by Monotoli Studios featuring two members of The Runaway Five who had previously toured with TC4. Listen here: thechosenfour.bandcamp.com/track/becaus...

TRACK HIGHLIGHT - Pink Cloud This track was the first to be recorded for the MOTHER '74 album with sessions dating back to May 1973. This specific mix (Take 8 & 9) actually features Ana on bass though goes uncredited on the album sleeve. Listen here: thechosenfour.bandcamp.com/track/pink-c...
