My neighbors read my blog and social media. My opinions are not unknown to them.

I launched the Bipartisan Public Lands Caucus to protect access to the places that define who we are—and we just delivered our first victory: stopping a plan to sell off thousands of acres of public land in Utah and Nevada. Public lands stay in public hands.

The house has passed a ban on coverage of gender care for all ages under Medicaid, CHIP and ACA plans. I don't know what to say to anyone this morning other than that the hundreds of thousands of people who are about to lose access to the care they need to stay alive deserve better than silence.

If only Christian charity were as easy as accessorizing.

Billionaires and CEOs know Trump and Republicans are gutting Medicaid and SNAP to pay for their tax cuts. So where are the billionaires who should be saying, “Wait…don’t cut my taxes if it means kids go hungry or die from treatable cancer”? This is why the rich are villainized by every day folks.

Some good news amidst all the bad. Coney Barrett's recusal yielded a tied SCOTUS on the Christian Oklahoma charter school, meaning the lower court decision preventing it from receiving public funds stands. Apparently, Roberts sided with the liberal justices. apnews.com/article/supr...

BREAKING: ICE and private prison contractor GEO Group are refusing to allow Mahmoud Khalil to hold his newborn son for the first time, even after his wife flew them over 1,000 miles to visit. We just asked a federal court to order ICE to grant Mahmoud's request for a contact visit with his family.

when i was a child, my family took CHIP and food stamps. this shaped my entire orientation toward government programs (positive) in a way most pundits don't have access to. and also, not to brag, but i think my siblings and i are proof that the ROI on feeding children is very high

Breaking News: A divided Supreme Court rejected a plan to allow Oklahoma to use government money to run the nation’s first religious charter school.

Good morning welcome to Tippetty tap tap Thursday Your potential is endless; don't let fear stop you. Bravery isn’t the absence of fear—it’s choosing to move forward despite it

I’m a red state rural Democrat. I’m not scared of the devil, much less Trump…

Amen.

Raise your hand if you’re an American who does want a Covid booster. 🙋🏻‍♂️ … and vote accordingly.

The number of people that will lose Healthcare is much more that the 14 million they talk about. The hospitals and doctors that get paid by Medicaid will close their doors. Everyone in the community will be losing care whether they were Medicaid recipients or not. This isn't making us"Great"

Medicaid / Medicare cuts may not be life and death for you. They will be death for many people. Make those calls.

This is from The Atlantic. This is exactly how Democrats should message Trump‘s bill. 👇🏻

Federal judge dresses down Alina Habba: "Your role is not to secure convictions at all costs, nor to satisfy public clamor, nor to advance political agendas. Your allegiance is to the impartial application of the law, to the pursuit of truth and to the upholding of due process for all."

Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

Imagine explaining to future generations that the Supreme Court was asked to guard Doge lore.

@warren.senate.gov: "They're fighting over how many children should go hungry so that Mark Zuckerberg can buy another Hawaiian island."

So much for progress. Does this administration care about anybody or anything at all?

This seems like an inherently bad idea.

Boyle: We just verified with the congressional budget office and of 13.7 million Americans who will lose their health care because of their bill, exactly zero are undocumented immigrants

….they’re touching Medicare, Medicaid, Snap, etc

So major media falls for RFK Jr.'s BS report.

If the GOP Tax Scheme is so beautiful, then why are they voting on it in the wee hours of the morning? Maybe because it’s irredeemably ugly and cruel.

Taxing the rich is the least the US Government could do.

Man I had a Kanye song pop up on a playlist I made and had to consider “am I able to separate the art from the artist in this case? Can this music still bring me happiness?” and about five seconds later I was like see ya goof and took the song off

New research co-authored at UC Berkeley finds that when governments are gender-balanced, people believe the political process and policy outcomes are more fair and democratic. news.berkeley.edu/2025/05/21/g...

MUST WATCH: They didn’t just burn Tulsa — they burned proof. Black wealth. Black futures. Gone. And now they’re banning books so you never learn it happened. 📚 ERASED tells the truth they’re scared of. Read it before they erase that too: stan.store/gxldsociety/...

Outraged and heartbroken by the news of two young people killed last night in DC in a targeted act of antisemitic violence. This is the opposite of advancing justice and peace - it only furthers the violence, pain, and loss - and such hatred must be firmly rejected by all.

You mean to say, why do I live in a purple state where the right wing has methodically over decades leveraged systemic inequality into power? I suppose for the same reason I live in a purple country where the right wing has methodically over decades leveraged systemic inequality into power.

We should all stand up together for one another. Nobody ought to have their lunch money -- or their liberty, living or loved ones -- taken by force. We shouldn't let it happen.

Tapper "wrote" a "book" -- ghostwriters exist for stuff like this -- making claims about President Biden's age and acuity. Note that Tapper's making no such efforts concerning drmpf. It'd be funny if the "book" sank without a trace and Tapper got no money from it.

So. Are. We.

I wish journalists would stop framing political news as wins or losses for politicians or political parties. It’s an abrogation of our mission. Why do we keep doing this? Is the spending bill a win or loss for the American people? Who does it help? Who does it hurt? Is it sound policy? Fiscally?

The “big, beautiful” bill ain’t beautiful—it’s bullshit. House Republicans just voted for the largest cut to SNAP & Medicaid in U.S. history—turning their backs on their own damn constituents: the working people they were sent here to represent. They don’t serve the people. They serve the rich.

Every independent analysis is clear: the budget bill passed early this morning by the House GOP will gut essential programs like Medicaid and SNAP for working Americans, and make the ultra-wealthy richer. We must do everything we can stop this bill in the Senate.

IF it does nothing else, Israel's illegal genocidal war in Gaza will create new generation of anti-Israel terrorists. Dedicated folks bent on avenging what happened to them, their families and neighbors. This isn't justice. This isn't self-defense. This is STUPID. Indefensibly so.

Right now, Republicans in Congress are trying to push through a bill that would put millions of Americans at risk of losing their health care. They want to cut federal funding for Medicaid, take away tax credits that help more people afford coverage, and raise costs for working class families.

The US government held migrants and asylum seekers in abusive detention conditions – sometimes for weeks on end – while denying them due process and the right to seek asylum. Then, the US sent them to Costa Rica... www.hrw.org/news/2025/05...
