tbf this is quite a good advert for Dan Alexander and for Forbes, he's clearly hit a nerve

Why is anyone surprised by this? The only thing surprising is that any of these MPs would subsequently cut a deal. Dunno if its just me being Glaswegian but my response would be that I wouldn't vote for any version of that bill so do your worst.

I know there were a lot of issues of patriarchy, misogyny and emotional repression, but I miss the old days when political figures left the public stage with a bit of dignity to take up their roles as elder statesmen, like consulars of the Roman Republic.

Preach!

Does anyone else think this "Fix Britain" thing sounds like a UK version of Project 2025?

"We went through hell together" and "he is a warrior" - mate, you didn't storm Omaha Beach together. You sat in an office thousands of klicks away from the action and moved your toy soldiers around a map. Odds on Bloodsoaked Bibi getting political asylum in the US? Pretty high yeah?

So.... Some of us are old enough to remember when the Truss govt got itself into a complete mess (worse mess) by confusion over confidence votes. The PM has now said he doesn't see it as a confidence vote *in him* But to be clear, confidence votes are A Thing. Quick 🧵

I don't remember the US instituting a Lèse-majesté law. Did I miss something?

i think these professional antivaxxers are literally demonic www.bbc.com/news/article...
