Speaking of AI, here’s another video by Carl, fighting the good fight. youtu.be/fJGNqnq-aCA?...

Gotta love that AI slop, soon to be used by lazy people everywhere.

The FA cup final was a bit of a drag, and I couldn’t care less about Palace. But Eze’s story should be inspirational to anyone, not just young players.

It's 2015. President Barack Obama has accepted a "sky palace" jumbo jet from the Qatari government, which he'll own after he leaves office. "Everybody relax," he says in an interview with the New York Times. Everyone does. The networks then televise the military parade in his honor on his birthday.

"Well, there went my shoe business" permanently ingrained in my mind

I got excited by the GTA trailer until I realized the PC version won’t be out until 2027 or therabouts. 😭

What utter nonsense. If Russia cared about the World Cup they wouldn’t have attacked Ukraine in the first place. And that’s even if they could be involved in the qualification process, which they can’t because it’s scheduled and already started awhile ago.

I have to admit I was hoping for the rest of the Gears of War trilogy on PC, instead of yet another re-release of the first game.

Every time I open Notion it gets a little worse. Every couple weeks it has one more pop-up about one more feature addition that has nothing to do with making the core product any better.

The Oblivion remaster is everything I wanted, except the performance, which is the usual shitty UE5 experience on PC. So I’m playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 until they improve Oblivion. Just wish Clair didn’t have the obnoxious QTEs in the supposedly turn based combat though.

Liverpool have done it. They've done it at a canter, in style, with ease. They are the 2024-25 Premier League champions.

a film that takes place where you’re from

Didn’t expect to see the Avengers tower in Ho Chi Minh City.

Love it when a pub has brewery specific glassware.

Asmongold fans truly are the some of the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet.

He. Started. A. Trade. War. With. Penguins.

Weird Val Kilmer was always the best Val Kilmer, but when you look as beautiful as he did, it’s hard to get filmmakers — especially in the 80s and 90s — to think of you for those roles first. When he got to do them, though, what a joy. RIP.

Probably the best productivity advice I’ve read in ages. Do less to accomplish more. From Slow Productivity by Cam Newport.

The home computer market was how damn near everyone in Europe consumed their games. It was a big, government-supported and highly lucrative industry for a whole decade. It wasn't a bloody "scene". Do you think we had bloody fanzines promoting games or some shit? Every sodding time.

Love this movie. And with all the AI «restorations» slop going on, it’s great to watch an older movie restored by actual humans who know their craft. The image and audio quality here are superb.

I heard you like nostalgia? smbc-comics.com/comic/fads

I can't even begin to describe how much I hate story point estimations. Imagine working in a field w/o it? Must be bliss. But, yeah, this is a fairly accurate depiction of it. Only thing missing is the mention of planning poker, which is neither planning nor poker. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wgb1...

Over on Mastodon, James Cridland asked Deepseek about the historical significance of Tianamen Square with web search off (via Kagi). The result was… well, take a look yourself.

I’n on a brit show binge at the moment. Just finished the brilliant season 4 of Slow Horses, the funny and whimsical Ludwig, and am currenly going through the incredible thrilling The Day of the Jackal.

Somehow "Elon Musk Is a Genius" and "Elon Musk Doesn't Know How Hands Work" are being said by a lot of the same people

moving your party indoors because it’s too cold out definitely feels like a strong way to usher in a new era of masculinity

Sad to see one of your gaming heroes fall into hard times.

I still have old copies of A Better Tomorrow and Hard Boiled on DVD that’s barely watchable, and The Killer has never even been available, so new Blu-ray/4K releases would be amazing.

I did it again! Jurassic Park with accurate raptors, a short part 2 #jurassicpark #blender3d

Jeff Bezos never wanted this cartoon to become public. He killed it, and as a result, pulitzer prize editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes quit. Make sure everyone sees this cartoon.

This deep dive on Netflix purposely turning movies into barely distinguishable forgettable slop is so insightful, researched & brutally hilarious. A must read if you want to really know what’s happening to the business AND culture of movies.

Wait, there’s people without an inner monologue? 🤯 I watched this video and still can’t comprehend how that works. youtu.be/XmTMU39tPgM?...

Not sure how I feel about #SolforgeFusion and its use of NFTs. On one hand it's optional and a TCG is probably the game genre that makes the most sense in that field. On the other hand, it's fucking NFTs. Also, looking at how to get started I don't think anyone outside crypto bros are signing up.

Just realized parked cars seen from above look a lot like a bunch of old nokia phones

I forget the Internet Archive also has a movie archive. I wanted to watch Pirates of Silicon Valley again, but it's not available on any streamers or even physical (DVD/BR). It's at the movie archive though. Great movie too, and compared to Aaron Sorkin's fluff Steve Jobs movie, it's a masterpiece.

People left Friendster for MySpace and MySpace for Facebook because the sites became occasionally unreliable. Slower, occasionally a page wouldn't load. That's all it took. The idea that people are duty-bound to stay on a fucking social media platform for ANY reason is straight-up nuts.

If there was a chef’s kiss emoji this would be the time to use it.

UE5 seems to be badly optimized so far. Sure, games using it may look great (if you have the proper rig), but the performance is usually poor, if not awful, while the input lag is terrible (at least on PC). Maybe Epic need to let it cook some more, instead of focusing on awesome looking demos? 🤷

With the influx of new people here I finally had no reason to keep my X account, so I just deleted it. Good riddance.
