Support international students.

This comes in response to a lawsuit Harvard filed on Friday morning, challenging the Trump administration's abrupt move to revoke the school's ability to enroll foreign students.

America cannot long remain free, nor first among nations, if it becomes the kind of place where universities are dismantled because they don't align politically with the current head of the government.

Breaking News: A judge blocked a Trump administration move to bar Harvard University from admitting international students, hours after the school filed suit.

If you’re still using Duolingo, this is what you’re supporting. “Duolingo’s founder and CEO Luis von Ahn believes there’s nothing a computer can’t teach—but says schools won’t go extinct because people need childcare.”

My heart hurts for Harvard-bound students who lost GRFPs and teams everywhere who have had grants terminated. A senseless waste of blood, sweat, tears, late nights, strained relationships, abandoned hobbies, frequent moves, financial instability, and mental health. 🧪

I was an international student in the US once Tonight, I’m thinking of the 1000s of international students at Harvard who will stay awake wondering if they will graduate I’m thinking of the 1000s accepted to begin their studies this fall The cruelty of this administration is stunning

I have worked with international students my whole life, and research career. As the cruelty toward migrants and international students continues to ramp up, my heart goes out to those who already had a hard road to walk. Do not let this unjust stupidity become normalized. Be kind, be supportive.

Cruel, stupid, and with lasting consequences for all.

I truly wish there were more international higher Ed scholars on here…

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com Three Yale professors who have written extensively on authoritarianism are leaving the U.S. “We’re like people on the Titanic saying our ship can’t sink,” Marci Shore said. “And what you know as a historian is that there is no such thing as a ship that can’t sink.”

If a foreign adversary snuck into our Federal budget and cut science research and education the way we’re cutting it ourselves — strategically undermining America’s long-term health, wealth, and security — we would likely consider it an act of war.

The children's series has found a new streaming home — Netflix, PBS stations and PBS KIDS will air new episodes on the same day. And Netflix will also run 90 hours from the Sesame Street library.

Japanese netizens are shocked by a tweet from the US Embassy declaring that Japanese people applying for non-immigrant visas must provide information on all social media accounts they have used in the last 5 years [or their visas could be rejected]. Some are comparing it to China & North Korea.

In case you want a taste of the やばい beef! 🐄 Thanks for the great talk at UCLA (and the @yanaiinitiative.bsky.social and @jppinfo.bsky.social shout-outs 😎)!

A presidential effort to revoke Harvard University's tax-exempt status could run up against a number of challenges, including violating federal law.

Yeesh....

This is so heartbreaking and makes nothing better and no one safer. It is the punitive act of an administration that values fealty over human health.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.
