Opposing genocide, it would seem, is inconsistent with the values of some of the most “prestigious” private universities in the USA. They apparently care more about alumni donations and endowments than they do human rights. Take note. And plan your next conference elsewhere.

“Vincent and Carpenter [say Harvard’s Magna Carta] is as relevant as ever at a time when Harvard is clashing with the Trump administration over how much authority the federal government should have over its leadership, admissions and activism on campus.”

Today marks the 77th anniversary of the Nakba—the violent catastrophe that started the expulsion, dispossession, displacement and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people by Israel. The Nakba is not a history lesson, the Nakba has not ended.

Most of history is lost to us ... because it was written in cursive ... by a man.

On this day in 1937, Italian Marxist philosopher, Antonio Gramsci, passed away from deteriorated health conditions associated with his many years in fascist prison. This poster, which quotes Gramsci's Prison Notebooks, appeared in Rome in December 2018.

Today marks the 80th anniversary of the fall of Italian Fascism during World War II. I collected this poster in Rome's Centocelle neighborhood in April 2019, which commemorates what Italians refer to as "Liberation Day." Buona festa della liberazione a tutti! Ed abbasso il fascismo, oggi e sempre!

This poster by the National Association of Italian Partisans commemorates the 74th anniversary of Italy's liberation from Benito Mussolini's Italian Social Republic and Nazi Germany's occupying Wehrmacht forces during the final months of World War II.

This poster, which features the slogan "Today Just as Yesterday, (East) Rome Is Anti-Fascist," appeared in the alleyways of Rome's Prenestino-Centocelle neighborhood to promote a celebratory public march to Piazza delle Camelie on April 25th, 2019.

For anyone interested in learning about the way in which wine, beer, and whiskey were intentionally transformed into symbols of the post-WWII American “good life,” come join Dr. Lisa Jacobson and I on Monday, April 28th on Zoom.

"The symbols of today enable the reality of tomorrow. Notice the swastikas and the other signs of hate. Do not look away, and do not get used to them. Remove them yourself and set an example for others to do so." — Timothy Snyder, On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century

The United States has so many intelligent, brilliant people. So why are the stupid clowns in charge?

1/4. On the White House’s theory, if they abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get to international waters, shoot you in the head, and drop your corpse into the ocean, that is legal, because it is the conduct of foreign affairs.
