I’d write a book on it, but I’d end up getting assassinated by one of the PE teachers at the orders of the Headmaster. Maybe save it for a retirement project…😉

Honestly - working in a school, especially in a support role is hilarious, it’s a weird culture that seems one step removed from reality.

Funnily enough - teaching the radioactives lesson on Tuesday, with our brand new Geiger-muller tube and counter. School is also struggling to find someone to drive the minibus to pick up some SEN kids because I’m one of the few people able to drive it - but I will literally be under the knife then

(Not actually worried about redundancy as I’m paid a ridiculously tiny amount, and if they lose me they lose their one PAT tester and Radiation Protection Supervisor - and who would the teachers browbeat into teaching their radioactives lessons for them)

Had the chance to have my hernia op moved from Thursday to Monday, but I honestly turned it down because the paperwork/system to get time off work is not great. Also there may be redundancies coming, and yes, I know it shouldn’t matter. But also I’m a realist.

Got a date for my hernia op. One week’s time. Woo Hoo my school six weeks holiday will now be ten weeks. I call that a result! Adding things to my “Doesn’t require heavy lifting” Todo list.

i know it's just advertisement but it still pisses me off when tech CEOs claim AGI will solve humanity's problems with its vast intelligence. for a lot of problems we already know the solutions, what prevents them being solved is not a lack of intelligence, but that the solutions are unprofitable

Thinking about things, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Apple keynote script was made fully by AI. It kind of felt like it.

At the moment I’m waiting for a hernia operation, so maybe I’ll snuff it on the table - no more people giving me aggro would be quite nice 😁

I am quite chill about it all. I’m an old hand at surviving churns like this. Maybe time to start work on my next book, provisional title ‘The only adult in the (staff)room’ 😈

Well. School I’m working in can no longer balance the books. So all after school clubs are cut, breaks will be rearranged to require less supervision and staff that leave will not be replaced. Doesn’t help we have PPP capital. Let’s see if there are any redundancies.

Wrong. The most profoundly validating experience for a man is farting such a stinker than your dog gets up in disgust and leaves the room.

Also - I have this weird feeling that, having watched their keynote, Apple are consciously trying to self-parody. Seems that ‘elevate’ is the new ‘magical’. I’d love to see a word cloud of their presentation. Looking forward to an AI telling me I ‘crushed it’ climbing two flights of stairs.

Grumpy due to work bullshittery revolving around jealousy, snideness, crabs in the bucket thinking and probably some homophobia. Humans are so fucking tiresome. Tomorrow may involve some ‘staring at a wall rather than talking’ time.

I've used Stoicism as a tool to deal with a lot of shit, but scrolling through a Google AI "summary" of an email thread that was longer then the actual thread this morning just to *get* to the thread, I'd like to think Marcus Aurelius would've sewn techbros into a bag and tossed them into the Tiber.

An AI company valued at $1.5 billion filed for bankruptcy after being exposed as 700 engineers in India. Under the rules of capitalism, this would mean those workers would be valued at $2.1 million each... except they're human, and capitalism doesn't value humans. www.dexerto.com/entertainmen...

If you were going to do a companion actor Doctor, then the only proper answers is a season of Doctor Donna. I will be taking no questions.

Is circumcision gender-affirming mutilation? I’d argue yes as you only do it on boys. (Exceptions made for paraphimosis)

Given how Trump is ‘concerned for free speech’ about the UK jailing people who tweet about burning down hotels - surely this man will be insta-pardoned

Oh goody. The drunks next door are screaming at each other in their garden. The countryside has the ambience of birdsong. The city has this. (Well, the woman is doing most of the calling the other a cunt and declaring that she will have a go at him…)

Looking forward to going to the U.K. Games Expo tomorrow. Hopefully the crowds won’t be too big, although it is half-term. If there are, I’ll just turn my hearing aids off and stick my dark glasses on. Maybe have a break to stare at a wall for a bit.

Piracy? Or just a thriving AI industry training it’s models?

This is a lie (not just because Nick Clegg said it, tho that's one indicator at least). You absolutely can make "AI" systems while fairly compensating people for data. And even if it weren't a lie, then any industry that can't survive without theft and consent violations shouldn't survive anyway 🤷🏾‍♂️

Reposted with ALT. Y’all this is giving me Google Glass vibes LMAO it is gonna crash and burn so hard. That camera staring you dead in the eye non-consensually filming everywhere it goes is so creepy Also it just looks like an Apple Watch hanging on a corny AF rope? THIS is your legendary design?

Has anybody considered that a giant AI company making a wearable camera has ran out of things to model and now wants to capture and algorithmically analyse our every waking, moving, working, living and breathing moment?
