@joepowell.bsky.social asked the Deputy PM whether 'alongside the Hillsborough Law, the Government will consider some independent oversight so that victims from the Post Office to Hillsborough to Grenfell know inquiry recommendations will actually lead to real change?' #NoMoreDeaths

On the 8th anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire, we remember the 72 people who died on 14th June 2017 and stand alongside the Grenfell community in their calls for justice and accountability. We urge the Government to take action to achieve meaningful change. Grenfell, forever in our hearts💚

Rachel Reeves commits to ending the use of hotels in the asylum system by the end of the parliament. At the end of March there were just over 32,000 people being housed in hotels - should be more than achievable with a focus on running an effective asylum system.

🔽 From NYC, parallels here with calls for better WiFi access in UK temporary accommodation from @jacktshaw.bsky.social @citizensuk.org and JustLife in recent wks. While we work towards housing justice, there is still much to do to make temporary accommodation a more humane + dignified experience.

Reeves considering £25bn Affordable Homes Programme over 10 years, reports FT. If confirmed, this would be a big real terms cut on current AHP (£11.5bn over 5 years plus £800m top-up). Housing bank sounds a good idea but already lots of loans and guarantees out there on.ft.com/43Y9qSM

With the Spending Review just 2 days away, the Chancellor has a choice: 🚪 Invest in 90,000 social rent homes a year for the next decade ❌ Or let homelessness continue to climb A future free from homelessness is possible but only if the gov acts. We’ll be watching on 11 June.

🏡 Wednesday's Govt spending review must include a clear commitment and investment for building 90,000 new social homes annually. This is vital for tackling the huge problem of homelessness & temporary accommodation we currently face. www.itv.com/news/2025-06...

I realise these things aren't directly tradable, but it does make me sad that this is happening while the UK's *National* Glass Centre is preparing for its final exhibition before permanent closure. It's in Sunderland.

Stunning view across Upper Wensleydale recently. #YorkshireDales
