Even after Trump leaves office, we're going to have to contend with the fact that large swaths of elites in this era have lost their ability to feel shame and desire to act dignified in public. This is a US Senator.

People of conscience should not permit this man to give an interview that isn't about the human cost of massacring USAID ever again.

It would be a dereliction of duty for any journalist to sit down with this gaping asshole and not pepper him with questions about his Government Service. Anything else is free PR

This is government waste.

Takes a lot of chutzpah to make a $290 million political donation, assume a powerful position in government, use that power to fire tens of thousands of people and do immeasurable harm to American state capacity, and expect not to have to answer for it afterwards.

The lesson people infuriatingly never seem to master is that there is no creating a police state just for other people. If you create a police state with no due process for immigrants or accused criminals, then that's the system you've created for yourself.

Toxic to the rule of law, and yet another example of ICE/CBP deliberately *not* looking for all those supposed criminals, drug traffickers, terrorists, etc. They're going for literally the least dangerous, most law-abiding people they can find, the ones following every rule. The easiest targets.

This is an extremely dangerous practice for everyone in the country, and everyone should be paying attention to it.

What infuriates me so much about this new operation is that it is literally punishing people for following the rules and showing up to their court hearings. It is so toxic to the basic concept of following the rules. It is an operation designed by people who hate the concept of the rule of law.

Dorothy Parker's cruel but famed line on hearing that Calvin Coolidge had died: "How can they tell?" If she were around to see this headline on a WSJ editorial ...

I had not seen this WSJ article from earlier this week. The 1st Amendment violation admitted in the last paragraph of this passage would be too obvious to use on a law school exam. www.wsj.com/us-news/educ...

When I close my eyes to sleep, I try to only think of puppies and kittens and Godzilla stomping on Mar-a-Lago.

There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd. It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

wild that we sent a huge number of guys to Iraq at the start of that war without rifle plates and now this is just how cops dress to frighten kitchen employees

I am someone who has cut of contact with my parents, and I know a lot of others, and most of us tried for years to fix the issues that led to that decision, and it was and continues to be a painful choice. No one cuts off their parents for no reason. That just is NOT happening.

I believe a crucial part of being a fully-realized human in 2025 is knowingly and joyfully hiding huge swaths of your life and experiences from the ever-gluttonous eyes of the Internet. It is also a genuinely meaningful act of personal resistance

The government’s own data, which was obtained by ProPublica, The Texas Tribune and a team of journalists from Venezuela, showed that officials knew that only 32 of the deportees had been convicted of U.S. crimes and that most were nonviolent offenses, such as retail theft or traffic violations.

I urge everyone to read Unbreaking’s new page on everything the govt is doing to destroy & diminish medical research funding. It’s the best thing I’ve read on this topic: @lizneeley.bsky.social & co have such done an incredible job. unbreaking.org/issues/medic...

you racked up the highest kill count of anyone in the world this decade in Q1 2025, my dude

This is his only biography now

some people are asking what the better messaging would be, & it's calling the republicans weird perverts who want the government to go around inspecting people's genitals. walz was on to it before he got pulled backstage and told to knock it off

This guy has murdered hundreds of thousands of people this year, most of them children.

We are going to spend the rest of our lives trying to understand and trying to repair the damage.

Couldn't agree more with this. It's jaw-dropping to see the patty cake people are playing with him after what was a full constitutional assault that, oh by the way, is almost certainly going to lead to tens of thousands of people in the global south dying needlessly.

The flood of encomiums and morality tales about Elon's turn in Washington cldn't be more predictable, vapid & sickening. If you want a story, get me the story about the crisis comms team directing this. He ran anti-constitutional blitzkrieg thru the federal government, did massive harm, violated ...

lol fucking democrats in a nutshell right here

Sigh. I don’t know why we’re defaulting to “the president presumptively gets to exercise unlawful authority while it winds its way through the appeals courts.”

They attacked, traumatized and fired the competent public servants, and now want your sympathy for being out of their depth.

Yesterday, I saw Musk's biographer Walter Isaacson wheeled out for a TV interview under the chyron "Musk: Back to Business" and it really feels like the media is entirely happy to go along with a concerted PR effort to increase Musk's finances by downplaying what he did to your government.

Gee I remember being told A) that doing this was impossible, impossible, absolutely impossible; B) that even if it were possible, if Democrats did it, then Republicans would do it—with the unspoken corollary that if Democrats didn't do it, then checkmate! Republicans would not be able to. Anyway,

the fact that we don’t have @aoc.bsky.social running messaging for the democratic party tells you everything that’s wrong with the democratic party

Couple things: 1. Elon is full of shit. Ignore the credulous media. He won't stop wreaking havoc. 2. We're winning, but it will take time. Take to the street, fight back, make your voices heard. Dump your Tesla, sell your stock. Join a #TeslaTakedown protest or create your own at TeslaTakedown.com!

Forgot the #BloomScrolling tag. That hashtag is a nice escape from the gloom and doom if you need it.

I could fix him

He has to qualify "when he wasn't drinking" knowing that Nixon went to pieces after two drinks and started talking to the paintings of Washington and Lincoln in the White House. Stone cold sober though, Nixon had the Teamsters beat up Abbie Hoffman and ate cottage cheese with ketchup.

Evergreen

A scandal worse than Watergate that the reporter waited to tell until he had a book to sell. Okay.

LEFTIST: Dude, you need to grow up and get a hobby. Start treating women like people and find a useful role in society. RIGHT WING INFLUENCER: You’re a pussy. You’re a beta cuck. You’re poor because of the soy in your blood. Suck my dick, simp. YOUNG MAN: the liberals have left me no choice

Let's use the words that fit. This is evil.

she means your kids, not hers

the continued message of this administration is that white collar crime is not only legal but encouraged as long as you pay fealty to the president
