Cornyn was horrified by Trump and Vance’s behavior. But he can’t say a word because Paxton is about to primary him, most likely with Trump’s endorsement. So Ken taunts him and Cornyn will put political ambition over principle and remain silent.

Congressional Democrats could change the course of politics if they were reacting to news and not just letting it play out. We have Putin in our White House. “Russia Russia Russia” is real. Speak about it! B4 pointing out a few who are, let me just say:

As @propublica reports Speaker Johnson is living at pastor Steve Berger’s house (previously Gov. Lee’s pastor in franklin), a reminder that Berger was there on 1/6 and blamed Antifa, before eventually apologizing for it. Their piece: www.propublica.org/article/mike...

Call your senators and demand that we fight for freedom not Putin!

✅Measles was declared eliminated in U.S. in 2000 due to the measles vaccine. 📍Today, Mexico has issued a warning to avoid traveling to the U.S. because of measles outbreaks in Texas and 7 other U.S. states.

"Don’t speak out. Don’t stand up. Don’t apply your principles consistently. Just go along with the party and you’ll keep your job. This is a dereliction of duty by a Senate required under the Constitution." ICYMI John Avlon: www.thebulwark.com/p/senate-rep...

HITTING THE DOCKET: Judge Amy Berman Jackson rules that Trump illegally fired Hampton Dellinger, the Special Counsel of the Office of Special Counsel. ecf.dcd.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/show...

Judge Jackson makes a good point here: that OSC’s authority “is not significant executive authority. It is hardly executive authority at all.” I’m old enough to remember OSC correctly finding a counselor to POTUS violated the Hatch Act and the White House basically just laughed at the finding.

We had a four-year-old telling Trump he's not the president and that he should shut his mouth while wiping boogers all over the Resolute Desk. One might say that was disrespectful.

. @dougjones.bsky.social weighs in on the Oval Office ambush 🔥 “The President has made the United States of America, the greatest country in the history of this planet….look weak…run by a couple of junior high school kids who would rather argue in a locker room than discuss…peace & security.”

If you thought they were abusive to Zelenskyy, just wait until you see what they're doing to your Social Security.

Seems like a pretty important detail

The "gold card" President Trump has described would be a new visa granting lawful permanent resident status in the US and a pathway to citizenship. But a president alone can’t create a pathway to citizenship: cnn.it/4koXFfm

Of course Speaker Mike Johnson is living in the $3.7 million DC home of an election-denying, policy-driving “evangelical pastor who has attacked the separation of church and state as ‘a delusional lie’ and called multinational institutions ‘demonic’”… www.propublica.org/article/mike...

One of the question that keeps me up at night these days is whether the courts are up to the job ahead of them.

Democracies stand with Ukraine.

Bitcoin price falls by 17.5% in biggest monthly loss since 2022

Here’s how the $300B in Russian sovereign funds frozen in Europe can still be used to give Zelensky the cards Trump told him he didn’t have in that vomitous Oval Office display by Putin’s puppets, our president and his agent provocateur Vance www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Watching this pro-Putin traitor - in the Oval Office - attack an ally of America who is simply defending his country against a Russian invasion was absolutely shameful. A truly rock bottom moment for our nation one could say - but I think we all know Trump will certainly take us down further.

"What can I do?" That is the number 1 question I get asked. And at this time in our democracy -- or what remains of it when public servants put their loyalty to a person above their oaths of office— I am grateful that people are asking that question. Below is a video with my answer:

Good on the Democratic Governors for releasing the following statement: “Democratic governors, along with millions of Americans, stand united with the Ukrainian people.” LFG people and show we stand with Ukraine & President Zelensky 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 #SlavaUkraini #NAFO @demgovs.org

A federal judge has ruled that the head of a government watchdog agency whom President Donald Trump is attempting to fire is entitled to remain in the post, setting up a dispute that will almost certainly be decided by the Supreme Court

Macron: “But we must not forget one point—if anyone is playing the Third World War, it is Vladimir Putin. He was the one who started the war three years ago, and he brought 10,000 North Korean soldiers to European soil.”

Reminder that there are protests happening across Florida on Tuesday; I’ll be back in Tallahassee for Legislative Session but learn more about the Orlando protest here 💪

Reupping from when you were all sleeping off Super Bowl. In DC, Treasury told Colleen Kollar-Kotelly Tom Krause and DOGE boy Marko Elez had read-only access to Treasury's systems. Now they confess that Elez had a copy of source code he had sandboxed. DOJ cites that to Tom Krause's declaration.

BREAKING: A federal judge in New Hampshire has granted yet another injunction against President Trump's birthright citizenship order.

NEW: Senate Democrats say they’ve set up portal for whistleblowers to alert “Any Potential Lawlessness Under The Trump Administration”

I wrote about how democrats need to stop falling into the republican trap of defending institutions, and instead be the party that defends people. keithedwards.substack.com/p/people-not...

In a declaration in the Treasury case, Thomas Krause describes his own access to BFS has only ever been "over the shoulder" (makes sense--he doesn't code), and that Marko Elez' access has not been restored. He says there are contractors who need access. legacy.www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Exactly this from @brianbeutler.bsky.social: At a minimum, Dems need to be procedurally aggressive enough to ensure that "their role in the constitutional system be upheld" www.offmessage.net/p/democrats-...

In late 2020, when the Senate GOP was about to rush Barrett onto the Supreme Court, I predicted minority rule would send the majority into overdrive and the streets at some point. And said exactly what a Democratic president and Congress should do if they won. 1/3

Pete Buttigieg: “Even the greatest country, if it loses the rule of law, will not have much left.” REPOST if you stand with Pete Buttigieg!

"Over the past half-century, an anti-democratic movement has coalesced in the United States. It draws on super-wealthy funders, ideologues of the new right, purveyors of disinformation and Christian nationalist activists." Gift Article www.nytimes.com/2025/02/07/o...

SCHWIMMER: “.. We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk.” @rollingstone.com www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv...

I realized today that Trump, Musk, DOGE, Vance, Miller, Vought and their many collaborators have broken so many laws already that they know they have to destroy our government and entire way of life to stay out of jail. This is all or nothing. We should respond accordingly.

Slash and burn: www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

A non-government business that contracts with the federal government received notice today that in order to do business with the government they must certify that they don’t participate in DEI. So it’s not just the feds, it’s any private biz that contracts with the feds. Here’s the message they got:

Elon Musk is the poster boy for holding a lifelong grudge over nobody wanting to come to your birthday party.

Muddled directives and early-morning emails at NOAA, one of the world’s top weather and climate forecasters, have put the agency on edge. www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

NEW — I spoke to a staffer at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about DOJ's threat to pull funding if the org didn't comply with Trump's DEI executive order, and how org leadership rolled over. "Rather than fight back, we chose to sacrifice trans children," they said.

Anybody who works closely with young people, anybody who's had cause to visit a psychiatric unit, knows that the EOs are going to result in dead kids. That's not a maybe. That's a fact. And these fucking killers know it; want it. Whatever happens, let us never forget that.

Piers Morgan is the voice of reason? 🤷‍♂️
