It’s a good thing Congress isn’t alive to see this

Telling me "the subway is so dangerous now" is my immediate sign that you need your TV taken away and your news algorithm adjusted www.hamiltonnolan.com/p/the-subway...?

So ridiculous that entire groups of Americans are literally fighting for their lives and there are people who see the struggle and their first reaction is "this is a distraction from the thing that I'm personally more interested in"

The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered. Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again. Their inaction is deadly.

I truly believe we will look back at this attitude as *the* sickness of our political era. It is an extremely basic fact, and has been for decades, that the vast majority of political violence in the US is committed by the right! You cannot solve a problem if you refuse to identify it.

The radicalization of the American right is THE story of US politics over the last four decades and political reporters are still not allowed to talk about it

a lot of the people who will chastise you for criticizing Dems instead of focusing on Trump are surprisingly willing to criticize protestors instead of focusing on Trump

Trump thinks you defeat the left with violence, but really you do it by getting them arguing about the precise definition of ableism

it’s incredibly obvious how much of the “we have to move right on social issues to win elections” stuff is based not on any empirical evidence but on the personal views of the people pushing it

So, to be clear, Musk has now admitted he funded a man he believes to be a pedophile to be president. And Trump has now admitted that he gave access to high level government secrets to a man he believes to be a big time drug addict. This should be *the* story on the Sunday shows tomorrow.

I'm just glad one of these men has the nuclear codes and the other has all our personal data.

I'm actually super fucking mad that the Elon Musk era is gonna end because of narcissist infighting with a former reality TV show host, and not because even a single institution in American life made a serious effort to hold him responsible for a decade plus long crime spree

And some say women are too emotional for positions of leadership 🙄

People keep being surprised by things Native folks told them about because they are committing testimonial injustice against Native folks

Outting someone as a pedo hits different when you made them president for your own benefit

He can go fuck himself, actually.

Seriously, how hard is it to be the party of human dignity

Wonder if there's a lesson in this. Oh well, probably not

There's still basically no evidence for Musk "stepping away" from politics besides his own claims, yet the Times keeps repeating the lie to help him - sometime contradicting their own reporters. Don't print lies in the newspaper.

Today, I was denied access to seeing my constituent, Mr. Kilmar Abrego Garcia. If there is nothing to hide, cut the crap. Let his lawyer and I check on him.

perfect microcosm of this entire debate: 1) cis ppl convinced GAC is harmful, call for more research, 2) research comes back showing GAC is safe and saves lives, 3) cis ppl ban GAC anyway...

Periodic reminder:Substack profits off Nazi pages bc they don't want to be "in the censorship business,"but they also won't host adult content,so they ARE in the "censorship business." They just think Nazis are better than pornographers. This is why I will never give Substack a single shiny nickel.

Republicans win while doing the exact opposite of this, firmly taking unpopular views and relentlessly hammering them (and lying about them). Hence the 180° turn the public has done on legal and illegal immigration over the past few years. If all they did was "respond," they'd lose, like Dems do.

“The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.” — Treaty of Tripoli, signed by the United States in 1797.

Jake Tapper's book is nothing more than the corporate media trying to shift the blame for 2024 off themselves. Unsure how people can't see this.

HASSAN: What is habeas corpus? NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country HASSAN: That's incorrect

The new Neil Halloran documentary on Smallpox has completely changed how I see the RFK Jr. version of the world. Neil (softly) argues that realizing that disease isn't the fault of the sick /or/ the fault of the Gods ushered in a new future where we felt the authority to care for each other.

The Trump Admin. just made machine guns legal again by permitting the sale of devices that turn AR-15s into fully automatic weapons. Forced-reset triggers increase a weapon’s rate of fire to mimic fully automatic guns—allowing a shooter to fire an entire magazine’s worth of ammunition in seconds.

Fuck this, absolutely fuck this, everyone who loves audiobooks loves their favourite narrators because they are great at their jobs and interpreting the author's words and they make the experience what it is www.theguardian.com/books/2025/m...

democrat who spent all of 2024 saying trump was a threat to democracy then voted to confirm 98% of his nominees: people don't trust us, we need to say someone is old

People really choose to be bots. Like they are real people only responding with ChatGPT. They have relinquished their mind to the hallucination machine. Scary

And as soon as Democrats stopped flying to the gulag and everyone stopped talking about it, Trump’s immigration numbers started climbing back up
