I realized something recently, which is that we're building AI tools completely backwards. While I was aware that there's some de-skilling happening already, I finally clicked a bunch of pieces together and decided to write this to talk about how we can do *better* hazelweakly.me/blog/stop-bu...

you know who else came from chicago and was on "a mission from god"

It strikes me that LLMs are approaching nuclear-weapon levels of unacceptable paradigm shift in how they affect humanity as a whole. And perhaps we really do need a Butlerian Jihad.

Maybe there is something in these LLM summaries after all…

I’m gonna miss @antonygreenelec.bsky.social on our screens. What a voice for rational analysis and trust in our electoral systems.

I love the smell of cardboard and sausages in the morning. Smells like democracy.

This, btw, is one reason I am deeeeeply suspicious of LLMs and other machine learning being thrown out there to “find your root cause” of system anomalies.

Achievement unlocked: present baffling image at tech conference wearing @wtyppod.bsky.social merch. Had a great time at KubeCon, I desperately wish there was one in my hemisphere.

*slaps roof of brain* This bad boy can fit so many jetlags in it.

@chrissimon.au loved the talk. Here’s that blog post I mentioned: softwarecrisis.dev/letters/llme...

Just get LLMs to summarise everything, I’m sure they wouldn’t make fundamental errors.

Feeling very cool and normal about flying to the US next week.

I recently read the paper "Towards Joint Activity Design Heuristics: Essentials for Human-Machine Teaming" which I loved so much I wanted to make it easier to share. To that end, I've excerpted the Ten Heuristics from the paper here: human-machine.team with anchors for each heuristic.

Going to be a busy start to the year. Talks at SRECon in March, and then Observability Day the next week. Looking like I get to cross the Atlantic for the first time in my life! www.usenix.org/conference/s... colocatedeventseu2025.sched.com/event/1u5kA/...
