I just published a new blogpost: "Unlocking Tokio's Hidden Gems: Determinism, Paused Time, and Local Execution" #rustlang pierrezemb.fr/posts/tokio-...

🚀 New chapter just dropped in Crafting Lambda Functions in Rust! 🧵👇

Them: Malinois are crazy This one: Stairs are scary, please carry me like a 60 pounds baby

me: someone complimented my writing her: oh, can you share the doc with me so I can read it in bed to help me fall asleep? 🙊

If your goal is to never have the same incident twice, then congratulations, you’ve already achieved it! On the other hand, if your goal is to get better at dealing with incidents, you’re going to need a different strategy for retrospecting on your past incidents.

I should probably read this after every job rejection email I receive: everythingchanges.us/blog/cant-an...

I was recently added to an email list for volunteers at the shelter to talk about what we call “star student” dogs, specific dogs that need more work, and what I’m most curious about is who are all these people still using aol, hotmail, and sbcglobal email addresses.

somehow I ended up with two copies of The Unaccountability Machine by Dan Davies, UK and US editions. If I don’t read the US one, will my bookshelf become an accountability sink? bookshop.org/p/books/the-...

One of the cool things about my local shelter is that they let you take dogs out for the day, so they can have a break from the kennel. I took Vegeta out today. He’s been there for more than three months. He’s a great dog, chill and gentle. Available for adoption at the Placer Animal Services.

I told Claude to build me a library in rust the other day and after the first pass it had 76 compilation errors. I asked it to fix them, and I ended up with 89 errors. I clearly need to read this research 🤦‍♂️ www.microsoft.com/en-us/resear...

I almost never reply to rejection emails because I know it's pointless, but I'm really really curious about how Dropbox makes some hiring decisions. Dropbox: This role is open anywhere in California except the Bay Area Me: I'm in Sacramento Dropbox: Sorry, we cannot hire in your location 🤷

I have not posted dogs from the shelter in a while, so here comes a small video dump. If you’re in California, and you’re looking for a canine companion, they’re all available for adoption through the Placer animal control services. This is Zamira. She reminds me a lot to a dog I had in my 20s

I'm still looking for a job, of course my life is spiraling down to turn me into those kind of people that write things on Linkedin pretending that they know what they're talking about: www.linkedin.com/posts/david-...

I've been using it since they added ebooks and it has completely replaced Amazon for my book consumption, digital or not

I didn’t know they made Castro St in Mountain View walkable, and now I kinda miss living here. If it had not been for our greedy landlord, we’d probably still be here.

Interesting meetup in a day when I’m going to be in the bay area

Shelter Monday: I had to read his name twice to be sure, but yes, this is “Skippy Crunchy Peanut Butter”. Named after that time he ate the country’s reserves of peanut butter by himself. He’s very sweet with new people, I’m pretty sure he would have shared that peanut butter if anyone asked.

that feeling when you try to pay an annual local government fee and end up filing a public records request to figure out what you have to do to take the contract away from the horrible vendor the city uses

More databases moving the persistence layer to object storage. Great article from @tur.so: turso.tech/blog/turso-c...

More dogs from the shelter: This is Vegeta, he was surrendered with his friend Goku, because they have too much energy 🤦‍♂️ I don’t know what those people expected, they are huskies, energy is what they do

Tea Cup’s info sheet at the shelter: A little bit shy with new people. Tea Cup when I open the kennel: Jumps at me and tries to lick my face 🤷‍♂️
