South Devon LibDem MP @carolinevoadenmp.bsky.social standing up for constituents and the public against a moneyed landowner. Her Conservative predecessor accepted ÂŁ5k from the same man. Who says politicians are all the same?

It was great to have the support of MPs @philbrickellmp.bsky.social @andymacnaemp.bsky.social @simonforstroud.bsky.social & @carolinevoadenmp.bsky.social outside the Supreme Court earlier for wild camping verdict! Now we need the Govt to pass legislation to extend public access rights to nature!

Lib Dem, Caroline Voaden MP - "the stars are for everyone, and that access to nature is not a nice to have, but a fundamental necessity for a happy, healthy life." @carolinevoadenmp.bsky.social A wonderful win for Dartmoor as wild camping becomes legal! ⛺ www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Sad but not surprising to see households’ trust in water companies collapsing. Just taking what’s happening in South Devon, as an example: nearly a year on from the crypto outbreak, South West Water has done little to restore trust among Brixham residents despite my repeated requests.

When it comes to any trade deal, the devil will be in the detail. But the government is still yet to publish full impact assessments on what its deal with the US means for British businesses.

Pleased to contribute the below article to Fishing News about the different veterinary agreements available to the UK with the EU. With the UK/EU Summit coming next week, the time has come for action to slash the red tape our fishers face day in, day out.

Alarm bells rang across the care industry over how the government’s new immigration rules will impact a sector where foreign workers are essential to keep basic services running.

Interesting Education Committee session today. Excellent response from Alex Veitch of the British Chambers of Commerce to Caroline Voaden MP's question on the importance of broader skills to employers. His solution: more applied, vocational & flexible learning pathways👏 @carolinevoadenmp.bsky.social

Pleased to contribute the below article to @politics.co.uk. The stories of residents being ignored, intimidated, and fleeced by estate management companies are shocking. It's high time the government acted.

South Devon College does a remarkable job with its students. Further Education has always been the forgotten child of the education system.

Our education system is clearly in crisis, but we never hear that said. If Labour is serious about education, it needs to find the money to fund schools properly. They must see it as an investment in society – it’s short-sighted not to view education as the most valuable way to spend public money.

@carolinevoadenmp.bsky.social is right to call out the shady firms exploiting vulnerable people under the guise of 'supported housing'. Taxpayer cash, sky-high rents, zero support — this broken system needs urgent reform. www.devonlive.com/news/devon-n...

Pleased to see D&C police will be encouraged to take more robust action on stalking, but, what’s more important, is that they take seriously the calls from frightened women who live in fear of their partners.

The Government has launched a new call for evidence to inform England’s first ever men’s health strategy. Suicide remains the biggest killer for men under 50, so it’s vital we create a strategy to enact positive change for men and their loved ones.

Excellent question from @carolinevoadenmp.bsky.social on the importance of ensuring that Skills England wields authority across govt departments. Skills England Chair, Phil Smith CBE argues here that Skills England’s outcomes should be the focus.

I was proud to lead a Westminster Hall debate this morning on residential estate management companies. Tales of intimidation, excessive charges, and poor services span the length and breadth of our country, and without government action, I fear we’re facing the next great scandal of our times.

This is a blunt move and won’t help to secure our long-term biosecurity. We desperately need a veterinary agreement with the EU, not just to boost biosecurity, but also to slash the red tape our farmers and fishers face. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

It was shocking when water bills dropped through the letterbox last month, even by South West Water’s standards. Some customers have come to me with rises of over 50%, far exceeding the recommended average increase. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Cutting support for the most vulnerable children in our society is disgraceful. This should be reversed immediately, and I commend my colleague @munirawilson.bsky.social for writing to the Education Secretary calling for this.

My @LibDems MP colleague @Wera_Hobhouse was denied entry by officials on arrival in Hong Kong last week & sent back to UK - the 1st MP to be denied entry since 1997. She was going to visit new grandson Foreign Sec. must ask for full explanation. www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

[email protected] MP is absolutely right. Millions of patients who can’t afford to go private face impossible choices. NHS dentistry should be available to all who need it. We need real reform now to make this a reality

Yesterday, I spoke about an issue that continues to fill my inbox: NHS dentistry. Despite Labour saying sorting this crisis was a top priority for them, we’ve seen shockingly little action, and with the Government pursuing broad, cruel welfare cuts, this situation will only worsen.

The way we measure deprivation is outdated and urban-centric - all it takes is one rich landowner to sway the figures for any entire settlement. A new approach is needed. Otherwise pockets of deprivation will continue to fall through the cracks and miss out on much-needed funding.

South Devon businesses, don’t forget, if you employ temporary staff this spring, make sure to check your legal pension duties to them. It’s crucial to be aware of your legal duties regarding automatic enrolment for temporary staff, as failure to comply can result in significant fines.

Recently, I spoke in a parliamentary debate about the impact of quota negotiations on the UK fishing fleet – and I’m pleased to see Fishing News has done a write up of it.

I spoke with BBC South West yesterday about how to boost UK hospitality. With Trump’s tariffs and the Government’s job tax kicking in more or less simultaneously, it’s an incredibly tough time for many businesses.

Pleased to contribute the below article to @politics.co.uk. The actions of the last week have shown once again why we must pursue a closer relationship with our nearest neighbour.

Last week, I joined a study trip organised by parliament’s Education Select Committee to Ontario, Canada, to learn about their SEND provision. It was a packaged agenda, and enlightening to see how a different approach to SEND education delivers incredible results. Here are my 3 key takeaways:

This is Utah in case anyone’s wondering how pissed off people are. I have never seen anything like this.
