Quite the UNH poll of Maine: Governor Janet Mills' favorability is 51/41 Senator Susan Collins' is ... 14/57. Among independents, Collins' favorability is a startling 8/60. scholars.unh.edu/survey_cente...

NEW YORK (AP) — Bill Moyers, the former White House press secretary turned prize-winning TV journalist, has died at 91.

In a decision that could derail Trump's tax bill, the Senate parliamentarian ruled that proposed Medicaid cuts violate the chamber's rules

Indiana has used more than $491,000 in public funds to defend GOP Attorney General Todd Rokita in multiple disciplinary investigations and formal ethics cases indianacapitalchronicle.com/2025/06/26/i...

Oi. To steal from @petridishes.bsky.social , this makes a vas deferens

No major Democrat has announced they will challenge Susan Collins next year. But she has only a 14 percent favorable rating an 57 percent unfavorable rating. #MESen scholars.unh.edu/survey_cente...

oh yeah? well, have you considered that the reason it doesn’t look like an unqualified success is because you’re not covering it right?

Here's a story about a questionable living arrangement that Rep Andy Ogles appears to be a part of in DC, in a group house : -owned by a major donor -with an ultraright Christian pastor who is running a secret influence project www.propublica.org/article/room...

Do y’all not see that these attempts to make Mamdani a Jew vs Muslim issue is CLASSIC white supremacy pitting minority groups against each other in order to divide us because we are very dangerous to them when we’re in community?? Are y’all for real gonna fall for that shit!?

The HUD scandals under Reagan look like nothing compared to this.

A third of the states — including deep red ones like Alabama, Mississippi, Idaho and Utah —have government-run liquor stores but someone like TCW (raised in NJ, living in France) can’t even imagine that reality.

It’s telling how the Christian right’s role in getting Skrmetti to SCOTUS is being erased—and by those seemingly desperate to blame trans people for asking for “too much.” So I spoke with legal historian @kredburn.bsky.social and ACLU attorney @chasestrangio.bsky.social, who argued the case:

One of my not-quite developed thoughts at the moment is that originalist methodology violates the 14th amendment if it fails to include writings and thought from marginalized people.

RFK Jr's antivaccine advocacy led to so many child deaths in Samoa they ran out of child-sized coffins. That's what happened.

Respect. It must be so scary to know someone who knows someone who grew up in the Soviet Union.

“My billionaire buddies and I are going to team up to try and buy the mayoralty for our chosen puppet” is perhaps not the surefire pitch to undecided voters that Bill Ackman thinks it is.

I feel like I'm losing my mind. Here is the transcript of what Zohran Mamdani actually said about the phrase "globalize the intifada." This is his "refusal to disavow it." This is what has people terrified. Just fucking read it. Source: podscripts.co/podcasts/the...

NEWS: Kenneth Chesebro, "architect" of the 2020 fake electors plot who pleaded to criminal charges in Georgia, has been disbarred from the practice of law in New York, per order issued today by New York appellate court.

And then this shit just came out. When you’re making over $700k a year, gaining $12k is nothing. It’s a nice vacation, redoing the garage, giving a niece/nephew a car. When you’re making $23k a year, losing $1600 is “are we paying for food or for the house or for medical bills” territory.

Andrew Cuomo has learned his lesson. by Susan Collins

Toad found a frying pan in the kitchen. “I will hit that big animal with this,” said Toad. “All of his teeth will fall out.”

In 1924 Fiorello LaGuardia was elected to the House, having been nominated by the Socialist & Progressive parties. He sometimes referred to himself as a “Socialist.” David Dinkins was a member of DSA. So if elected, Mamdani would be the 3rd Socialist mayor of NYC. archive.nytimes.com/www.nytimes....

Ironically, in the 1920s Stephen Miller's grandparents, Jewish immigrants who settled in central Pennsylvania where they created the inter-generational wealth that helped fund Miller's lifestyle, were attacked with this exact same rhetoric from the immigration restrictionists of their day, the KKK.

nyt op-ed: we cannot normalize the left’s brazen attempt to win voters by talking to them

Twelve years ago today, the Supreme Court struck down the coverage formula of the Voting Rights Act. They ripped out one of the central features of the most successful civil rights laws in American history. The result has been a disastrous growth in the turnout gap papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

I am convinced, although I have no hard evidence, that ICE has gotten orders to go out and re-detain Iranians with final orders of removal, many out in the community on orders of supervision for decades as Iran wouldn't take them. They may now be deported to Panama or somewhere random.

JUST IN: A federal judge has issued a nationwide injunction blocking the closure of Jobs Corps campuses, saying that without intervention to block illegal closures, thousands of abused children will be kicked out. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

If you’re zip-tying grandmas protesting losing health care maybe you’re not the good guys in the story?

Some perspective on the great conservative freak-out about Mamdani in NYC: campaign-trails.ghost.io/the-not-so-g...

A White House official asserted there is “no need” for the public to know who’s in DOGE and asserted that there have been no conflict-of-interest violations: “For decades, we’ve been able to operate without these people’s names.”

"The judge has not yet issued a date by which the grants must be restored, although his latest order said 'a full written decision will soon follow.' NIH employees told Science they have not yet received instructions to restore terminated grants."

Just in: NIH staff have been instructed to REINSTATE these ~900 grants to comply with the court order, per sources. This comes after staff were also directed to cease any further terminations. You can see the lists grants to be reinstated in my post below.

NEW: 11 key allegations made in Erez Reuveni's whistleblower disclosure about DOJ. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche attacked the claims as "falsehoods," but many of the fired longtime DOJ lawyer's allegations are already backed up by public facts. Today, at Law Dork:

It’s always heartwarming when a good candidate beats an enormous sack of cash.

Why does NYC mayor matter, in one story: —NYC councilors banned solitary confinement. —Eric Adams issued an executive order declaring an emergency to get away with orders Rikers to not obey the law. —He's been reissuing the executive order weekly, as they expire! read: boltsmag.org/new-york-rik...

stop running away from trans people and fight back

A fun thing about American politics is that more people voted in New York City in a June primary than live in five states that get two senators.

Tonight I'm texting Nancy Pelosi and asking HER for $5

A story that got less attention was the incredibly cynical primary of my amazing Councilwoman—the first Muslim woman ever elected to the NYC Council—by a billionaire, corporate-backed candidate also lobbing gross accusations of antisemitism. Anyway, the challenger got trounced. Hell yea.

How many of you shared a link to the Washington Post or New York Times for an article about ICE? Quit giving the billionaires cover for their goose-stepping. Go local, try to link current stories to local non-profits like @‪mississippifreepress.org‬ & check out @statesnewsroom.com for more!

If you’re high on the New York results tonight… I just wrote this morning on a big progressive win in Virginia last week, where the local establishment face-planted as well. Give it a read, don’t stop at NYC! boltsmag.org/norfolk-virg...
