Reminders here from the County Councils Network and Campaign for Better Transport of the significant investment needed in buses. - Bus services in rural areas of England declined by 18% from 2019 to 2024 - 4 in 10 council wards in England and Wales do not have a “reasonable” level of bus services

Most Brits think we should stay in the ECHR and protect our British-European values… Makes perfect sense. And also- 1) It protects us from Trump-like behaviour with his own citizens 2) It underpins our criminal data-sharing with Europe. Leave ECHR and we’d become a haven for criminals.

Elon Musk is calling for Donald Trump to be impeached. Donald Trump is calling for Elon Musk to be deported. Both sides have a point.

MRG is now on Bluesky! Here, we will share details about our research and events, so please do share this with your networks. We look forward to interacting with you all!

Coffee in the corner of my small garden. Sweet peas mixed with mint. Salads and herbs with petunias and begonias. My sort of gardening. #smallgardens

South Western Railway marks renationalisation of passenger services. Welcome. Some were already run by the state. Rolling stock remains privatised. Govt will rent carriages, pay billions, mostly to companies holed up in tax havens. Freight also remains privatised. Must renationalise the lot.

BBC News laundering this hateful woman who incited a hotel being set on fire with a “both sides” article and a smiling picture. Spin off BBC News and throw it to the commercial wolves

Every year I look forward to the same old favourites blooming in my garden. Some have been with us over 25 years. #oldfaithfuls #gardens

Wake-up call… Lincolnshire has suffered some of the worst flooding in its history in recent years Lincolnshire’s newly elected Reform council has abolished the flooding committee This is who they are Please wake up to this. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Trump administration ends Harvard's ability to enrol international students. Students part way through a degree left in limbo. Threatens university survival. Dictators always assault universities, critical thinking. Research already censored, depts shut, books banned. Silence from Congress.

🚨BREAKING: The new Derbyshire County council leaders have SCRAPPED their climate change committee - with their leader claiming it isn't of 'any value'. Reform have received MILLIONS from the fossil fuel industry and climate skeptic groups. Who else thinks Reform can't be trusted?

After cleaning this garden table in order to sell it, I went to get my phone to take tempting photos. In my absence, Luna discovered a nice patch of shade. “Dog for scale, not included”…. #dogsofbluesky #gardens

Much of the reaction to the EU-UK reset could have been written in advance without knowing any of the terms of the deal. So allow me to make two points regarding perception/1

I was chatting to a friend and we were discussing the strange way in which some politicians, presenters, journalists and commentators appear to have had a sudden epiphany about the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza. She then reminded me of this book…

The unbelievable condescension we’re already seeing today towards working class people- suggesting they don’t travel to Europe or their kids might not want to go to university and study in Europe- is quite something to behold.

The USA slowly falling apart as public services are withdrawn is a warning of how the UK will fall apart under Reform.

In a world gripped by conflict and economic instability, strengthening our bonds with the EU is a no-brainer. Together we can be a force for peace, growth and progress globally.

The voice of people on the receiving end of social care is once again completely missing

So let me get this straight: masks are bad and un-American if worn to fight a pandemic, but good if worn by people claiming to be government agents when they kidnap people off the street

It will probably come as no surprise to anyone to hear that Reform UK’s policies add up to an agenda of fiscal recklessness that rivals, and may well exceed, the disastrous 49-day, hair-raising, market-tanking premiership of Liz Truss in 2022 econ.st/42WSuLG

I took my four-footed house guest to Clumber Park NT this morning. The walled kitchen garden is stunning at the moment.
