Our client, Zaya Perysian, took President Trump to court to challenge his executive order that denies trans, intersex, and non-binary people accurate passports. No matter what, we'll keep fighting until this executive order is gone for good.

I'm wrapping up a trip to see family and friends in Southern California. One of my favorite pics from the trip is this one of Old Mr. Tree in the Los Rios Historic District of San Juan Capistrano. I grew up over the hills from this site.

Our statement in response to the Supreme Court ruling in Mahmoud v Taylor. Image thread with alt text. 1/4

Writing is the art of leaving pieces of yourself between the lines, hoping someone else will find them and feel a little less alone. ✨️

Nicely done, NYC!

Sorry about that unfinished post that I accidentally sent before I finished it. I'm at an airport, getting ready to board a plane, so I deleted and posted a more succinct, completed one.

I second what Pedro said. variety.com/2025/tv/news...

Between June 10 and June 16, there were FOUR bomb threats sent to public libraries across the US. That this doesn't make wider news–the ongoing targeting of public libraries with bomb threats–is mind-boggling. buttondown.com/wellsourced/...

Official statement on ICE cosigned by 130+ KidLit & YA authors and illustrators. We are calling on publishers to not preemptively censor themselves in the face of this current administration and to protect marginalized creators. 🧵

Excellent news for Oregon! Governor Tina Kotek signed the state's Freedom to Read bill, SB 1098, into law! www.kgw.com/article/news... @authorsabb.bsky.social @heykellyjensen.bsky.social @tasslyn.bsky.social @penamerica.bsky.social @everylibrary.bsky.social

If you’re an American should watch the Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown ep on Iran. A deeply humanizing look at a country full of people just like you and me. I watched it after Anthony died and it moved in ways that are hard to relay. I also immediately ran out to try kabob koobideh and tahdig.

Millions of us have been against this since (at least) 2002... and that is why we had to be politically marginalized. Under capitalism, within the logic of the superrich, there's no profit in justice or peace. Or in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Evergreen. Juneteenth was slavers getting caught trying to hold on just a little bit longer.

The fight for trans rights is far from over. Tell Congress to take action and defend health care for trans people NOW.

The Supreme Court just ruled against trans rights. Join us outside the court for an emergency rally at 3:00 pm today to show we won't be silenced.

The anti-trans movement impacts and hurts my own family, and it's often excruciating to come online and see the newest horrors people are inflicting upon trans people, including children. My heart goes out to every trans kid and the people who love them today. This Supreme Court is deadly.

so off that Supreme Court decision, we offer you a guide on how to advocate for trans rights in your community:

I was honored to be in conversation with @realcatz.bsky.social on @kpfa.org to talk about @authorsabb.bsky.social, book bans, and the terrifying moment we're in right now. kpfa.org/area941/epis...

As a Bram Stoker-nominated author who became a co-leader of the Oregon chapter of Authors Against Book Bans, I wholeheartedly agree with every word of Becky's killer keynote speech. Horror writers, please stand up for the freedom to read, and please join us at www.authorsagainstbookbans.com.

I'm loving all the videos of yesterday's protest but especially this wedding party that decided to join in

I'm so damn proud of everyone protesting fascism in this country.

This is why you don't give up on red states. You're leaving YOUR PEOPLE, who're fighting twice as hard for inches of progress, behind. Well done, Texas.

We should make June 14th No Kings Day permanently.

Ariel view of thousands of protesters marching against Donald Trump in Downtown Los Angeles #NoKingsProtest

If any people outside the U.S. still feel compelled to criticize Americans for not waking up fast enough (stop), we're fighting multiple fronts here, one of which is against the very media institution that is *supposed* to be on the side of truth and the people.

The scale of the rally in Portland is MASSIVE. Simultaneously crossing the Morrison and Hawthorne Bridges in one long parade of democracy. Tens of thousands of people. #NoKings

The day started with tragedy with political violence in MN and instead of being scared, neighbors SHOWED UP to stand together at No Kings Twin Cities. We packed the Capitol Mall all the way to the Cathedral. Estimate 80,000+ right now. So proud of our state. #nokings #indivisible

It's always a beautiful, emotional experience giving out hugs with Free Mom Hugs Oregon at Pride events. I was at Newberg Pride earlier today. Numerous older folks came by for hugs at this one. Families: Hug your family members, and love and accept them for who they are, no matter their age. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Leading up to this new administration, I told people I know that I worried people would start killing Democratic politicians. This was so clearly coming. It's horrific and tragic but not surprising at all when the GOP has been skilled at drumming up fear, hatred, and violence for years.

A little bit of good news in this hellscape: Voters rebuke MAGA-led effort to ban books in California city Cc: @authorsabb.bsky.social @shing.bsky.social www.sfgate.com/politics/art...

Oh! Also, if anyone brings a Right to Read poster or something to the protests tomorrow, we'd love to see it! Tag us with the image, with alt-text of course, & we'll share it!

This is terrifying, so please read this as cope: The Wilshire Federal Building is 15 *miles* from the protests in downtown Los Angeles. It is a half-hour drive. You could fit an entire Manhattan, the long way, between them.

I'm at the Wilshire federal building now. Marines take over at noon but right now no sign of them and very little military presence. People are pushing strollers in the park adjacent.

Another story in the Guardian that should have been in an American paper …. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

So happy too see this progress for Rhode Island's Freedom to Read bill!

SHUT. IT. DOWN. A senator was dragged out of a press conference for standing up for his constituents and against fascism. Watch how your representatives and senators respond to their own colleague being treated like this. That'll show you how they'll react when it's *you* on the ground.

NPR is recruiting a bunch of new interns. These are 🔥✨️⚡️🧨🎉 opportunities for people who care about mission, culture and journalism. And they're paid! Whatever your background, please consider learning and working with us. ♥️ job-boards.greenhouse.io/nationalpubl...
