It’s important for folks in their 40s/50s/60s to realize that some of us should get a measles booster. I did a few years ago

I don’t have a specific suggestion yet. But my first reaction is that it should meet these criteria: 1. It should be somewhat subtle. 2. It should provoke him into apoplexy. 3. It should make people want to laugh at him.

If you worked for 18F and got fired, Group together to start a consulting company. It’s just a matter of time before DOGE needs you to fix the mess they inevitably create. They will have to hire your company as a contractor to fix it. But on your terms. I’m happy to invest and/or help

I’ve always been skeptical of folks who say Trump is a literal ‘Russian asset’ or that Moscow has ‘kompromat’ on him, and the Russia obsession hurt the Dems in term one… but… how does anyone explain this? Justify this? How? t.co/ie1nWaL8ot

I was honored to make a cameo on tonight’s @60minutes.bsky.social. Here’s the story that aired: www.cbsnews.com/news/usaid-d... And here’s the longer discussion that Scott Pelley and I had about the broader constitutional and institutional problems we’re facing: www.cbsnews.com/news/legal-l...

Strong statement from @govkathyhochul.bsky.social about the brutal killing of Sam Nordquist, a 24-year-old trans man. Five people have been arrested for allegedly torturing and then killing him. “There must be justice for Sam Nordquist.”

SHARE WIDELY. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one. (1/3)

Team @lawfare.bsky.social is tracking Trump's executive orders, with brief summaries of what they actually do (and don't do) here: www.lawfaremedia.org/article/docu...

Sergeant Gonell @sergeantaqgo.bsky.social sent me this picture. This is his call log. Each call is an automated Dept of "Justice" notification saying "The defendant you testified against is being released from the dept of corrections." Each defendant assaulted him.

Hey folks, a lot of Reply Guy trolls and disinformation bots out there. Remember, if the vibe feels of, if someone’s saying something so dumb/shitty they * must* be misinformed and can be educated — block and move on. Check the profile, always check the profile! 1/

So basically the Trump Admin’s immigration policy is to increase the number of people from other countries who come in and take high-skilled, high paying American jobs, while deporting everyone else doing physically grueling jobs for shit wages?

It shouldn’t be ignored that Kash Patel chose to plead the Fifth in response to a grand jury subpoena over the Mar-a-Lago classified documents. He only testified, involuntarily, after being granted immunity. Think about that. Trump’s FBI nominee pled the Fifth in response to a DOJ subpoena.

Message to FBI Director Christopher Wray: "For the love of God—do not resign. Make Trump fire you and be as public as possible on the way out the door.... The best way to preserve the institution is to make Trump fight for every inch." www.thebulwark.com/p/three-crim...

Kash Patel has the very Trumpian quality of having done so many different horrifying/disqualifying things that some of them go under the radar. For instance, this little tidbit about how Patel straight up lied to the Pentagon during a hostage rescue operation and put everyone involved in danger.

This is a fake account impersonating me, and apparently sending out a lot of DMs. I've reported it as a fake, but I don't know how long Bluesky takes to moderate. Please block and report, thanks.

This is what has me so crazy about Kash Patel. Everyone has jumped right to the merits of Patel and no one has even paused to say, “Presidents don’t get to fire the FBI director without paying a huge political price.”

This is a moment when it's despairing that even people who follow the news extremely closely--even journalists!--have no clear sense of what has happened over the last eight years.

Trump FBI pick Kash Patel has publicly mused about jailing journalists whose coverage he dislikes, and he published a list of “deep state” names in a book last year titled “Government Gangsters.” www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Alice and I have finally reached Worf and Dax’s wedding and I’m adding Martok’s wife Sirella to my fantasy cast for “Real Housewives of the Federation” along with Lwaxana Troi

In the FBI probe that led to the US v Trump classified docs case, a former Trump Adm witness identified as Person 16 described another former Trump Adm member, Person 24, as “unhinged” & “crazy.” Person 24 shares many traits of, and may be, Kash Patel. ... 1/4

I have covered both Musk and Alex a lot, and only one of them is a useful idiot for Putin and also a heinous person. The other is a patriot who did his job with distinction and is a very good man. Guess which is which: thehill.com/policy/techn...

We are headed toward a US constitutional crisis vastly bigger than Watergate

Nichols: You have the makings of a not so slow motion authoritarian takeover of the United States government. And people ought to be really concerned about this.

“‘I have no respect for any man that belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around and uses women for his own power and ego. You are that man (and have been for years) and as your mother, it pains me and embarrasses me to say that, but it is the sad, sad truth.’” www.nytimes.com/2024/11/29/u...

So a reminder: It’s not ‘liberals’ saying Hegseth abuses women. It’s his mom. It’s not ‘liberals’ comparing Trump to Hitler. It’s his vice-president. It’s not ‘liberals’ calling Musk a liar and a racist. It’s his own child. For the record.

“I think if RFK follows through on his intentions, and I believe he will, and I believe he can, it will cost lives in this country,” ⁦‪@scottgottliebmd.bsky.social said www.statnews.com/2024/11/29/s...

It's increasingly clear that Trump's religious conservative supporters were not making a one-time exception for his character—they appear to be fine with this behavior at every level of government (provided the officials in question say the right things and hate the right people).

The tariff news today put me in mind of the great Mencken quote: “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”

The guy spend a chunk of his childhood in an internment camp because our government thought he might be dangerous because he was of Japanese descent. He was also gay when you were forced to hide it. It’s been much worse for a lot of people in our history. George knows what he’s talking about.

46 years ago today, dozens of turkeys met their unfortunate demise in a Cincinnati parking lot. WKRP's Les Nessman was on the scene that fateful day.

The Washington Post reports that Michael Anton and Sebastian Gorka had a falling out over who should receive credit for writing Trump's speeches. This is incorrect. In this thread, I will tell you the real reason why Anton dislikes Gorka. 🧵

A Trump supporting, anti-trans, anti-gay Republican was elected commissioner of the county where I grew up. He won despite being in jail on election night for a sexual assault in Vegas. It’s now come out that the woman he assaulted was his daughter. fox59.com/news/indycri...

A frustrating thing for me right now is the media narrative that RFK Jr is just an “anti-vaxxer” when he has said so many crazy things about other stuff over the years. We compiled 10 nutty clips on various topics, which still barely scratches the surface. open.substack.com/pub/meidasto...
