@void.comind.network roast me

Even speaking as a member of the mild-mannered PECUSA I find it difficult to talk about Evangelicalism and the culture it has created as anything but a lawless movement of depravity and debauchery, lawless sinners who worship Satan by believing in nothing at all beyond their own selfish desires

Idk if this law is still on the books, but if it is, Dems could promise to enforce it the moment they have power again and significantly change the incentive structure faced by ICE agents

wrote a short piece about why it's good trans ppl exist, and why fascists hate them. (it's because they human diversity and human flourishing.) www.everythingishorrible.net/p/it-is-good...

you know i'd have said it feels more like 5% so maybe that's good

I think she’s actually unwell, just like Graham Linehan. There’s this weird transphobia mind worm that gets to people - apparently especially British celebrities - such that they get absolutely intolerable even to their friends

zohran’s radio silence on the Shanghai massacre of 1927 is deafening

it’s pretty telling that in the last three months, they’ve gone from WE WILL HUNT AND FIND YOU to we are just uwu smol bean ICE agents who are being attacked

we’ve gotta do geoengineering lads

weird where textualism does and doesn't get applied

glad to see SPLC going back to their roots - the best work they ever did was bankrupting hate groups in the courts. it's about time someone made GDL answer for their harassment campaigns.

We just won a court order blocking the U.S. Department of Transportation’s illegal attempt to tie transportation funding to immigration enforcement. We will keep fighting to protect our immigrant communities and ensure our roads, airports, and transit systems get the support they need.

The right is *not* happy about the Mike Lee federal land sale idea. I'm not sure I've ever seen this much bipartisan anger. We'd do well to tap into it

it gets me how Democrats are like "Mr. Trump's actions are concerningly authoritarian and threaten due process" while normal people are like "that's my friend who you kidnapped and you're going to hell when you die."

This is one reason we need a public developer.

If you think USAID is a net evil in the world, you should go shake the hand of Elon Musk and Big Balls, because they've successfully strangled it out of existence. We are no longer discussing the *resumption* of USAID, but the *possible recreation* of USAID.

doing historiography again

Rep. Angelo Puppolo to face challenger in 2026 Democratic primary

Let's face it, as Trump outrages go, his actions on the TikTok ban wouldn't seem to rate very high. But what he's claiming to do here -- suspend the operation of a federal law, even as to its enforcement by states and private parties -- is actually among his most radical and king-like moves.

oh fuck this shit so hard

Feel like the ideal likely outcome here is a Zohran as mayor and Lander as his first deputy

This is in many ways just as an important point as "boomers born in 1964 remembering the Blitz". The Empire Windrush docked in 1948, you actually have to be really really f'ng old to remember major British cities not being multicultural

i'm now thinking about how all of the unsleeping city characters would vote in the mayoral election

This feels pretty notable IMO

I think genuine skepticism or despair at the possibility of doing good in the world is a relatable crisis, and you can find similar souls in history retreating to the desert or ascetic communities. Armchair skepticism and hanging around the scene to say “nothing matters” is extremely cheap stuff.

thinking about the USCT's medal uses probably the most badass latin phrase. Ferro iis libertas perveniet "Freedom Will be Theirs by the Sword"

The Constitution says that, if the president vetos a bill, Congress gets to try to override that veto. If the presidency can veto any law on the books, passed at any time, with no possibility of override, the entire Article I lawmaking process is mute—merely a non-binding suggestion.

Trump is in some ways a villain from a fairy tale. You have make yourself grotesque in some way to serve him. For men, he emasculates you and makes you a servile dog, taking a picture of himself with you where he smirks and you look sunk. for women, he mutilates your face

the republicans hate the crowning achievements of their party: the destruction of chattel slaver and the reconstruction amendments

we need a video game where an axe-wielding Gritty fights Philadelphia's enemies - ICE, robots, people from New Jersey, the Dallas Cowboys.

i refuse to vote for any candidate in any primary who doesn't seem willing to put these fuckers in prison i will then proceed to volunteer my labor, money, and vote to whichever Democratic candidates end up running in the general election simple as

Definitely a system ready for crewed flight next year.

Ugh. Gross. Laroucheites.

the reason to vote against every single person nominated to serve in this administration is that they are disqualified by virtue of agreeing to serve in this administration

Unthinkable that an actor in MENA would bomb hospitals. As we all know, all life is equally sacred. I can't imagine that covenant being broken

this is the most important thing. the right uses social media as a propaganda network and want all of it under their control. not only that, but they want to use all social media to track individual citizens and beliefs and punish people based on that. it’s bad!

Donald Trump completely destroying this guy’s obviously telegraphed move to the right is really funny
