The right is starting to meltdown that the new pope has been vocally critical of Trump.

you're welcome

Thank you!

Considering writing an obscenely long essay on how the shift from naming sports venues from like Astrodome and Boston Garden to Smoothie King Center and Crypto whatever is a reasonable stand-in for the fall of American civic society, anyway let’s enjoy warriors-rockets game 7 at Toyota center

This is foreign interference in our election and we need to find a policy solution for it ASAP

I hope Ed Davy finds a way to ban noise of transport… I’m tired of hearing people’s nonsense. Also one of those British customs I’ve wholeheartedly adopted.

A new low, even for MTG 👀

"The Heritage Foundation was created in 1973 by Joseph Coors, Paul Weyrich and Edwin Feulner. Coors, of the Coors brewery dynasty known for its union-busting, anti-environmental and anti-equal rights stances, provided the finance."

An American citizen! They tried to deport an American citizen, detained him for ten days and lied about it to a judge, after badgering a mentally challenged *citizen* into signing false statements. What if he had been vanished to El Salvador, unable to return?! www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I don’t think US foreign policy land quite gets it. Trust was broken long ago. Whether it’s supporting coups and dictators, to false testimony leading to invasion or even the financial crisis - trust in America has BEEN eroding, probably since before I was born. foreignpolicy.com/2025/04/21/p...

They likely have no evidence of gang membership for anyone.

“It’s amazing that others in this room underwrote electing a man who, in the last week, single-handedly destroyed all of American science. It’s amazing how much good science you can destroy with $320 million and RFK Jr, very fast.” — Seth Rogen’s censored remarks presenting the Breakthrough Prize

Which is astonishing because Washington just doesn’t care. The UK had actual say on issues in the EU and regularly utilised the force multiplying power of the bloc on the global stage. Closer relations with the US just means vassalisation by an empire in decline.

Exactly

This feels like a “no duh” point, but maybe that’s why it has to be said out loud.

I mean just don’t do it. At this point there is nothing to gain. It’s being used to divide and conquer and it won’t help at the next election.

Washington is trying to drive a wedge between UK & Europe! Paul Adamson chair of U.K. EU commission said: “You see American commentariat on social media to that effect. “The last thing Americans want is for the UK and Europe to be united and come closer together. 1/3 archive.ph/2025.04.15-1...

One of my other fears here is Starmer isn’t Mark Carney and I’m worried he won’t have the backbone that the Canadian PM has had over the last 90+ days. Unlikely to get a good deal for Britons.

Can’t imagine there’s a tremendous amount to gain for the UK except for further vassalisation. Angus Hanton has already shown how much of the UK is vassalised, maybe now more so. www.google.com/url?q=https:...

Aaannndd that’s a good reason not to go home.

The president told a Central American dictator to build five more massive slave labor camps to hold US citizens.

I just attended a conference in the US. We had one speaker detained and two others turned away at the border.

As someone who has less than a breath’s interest in golf, I just screamed at my TV after that McIlroy putt miss. The dog has run off.

Love it

i still find it incredible the Tories managed to steal defeat from the jaws of victory because they don't want to piss off Donald Trump or his minority Canadian fanbase

The problem with forcing countries to create a new world without you is that once they've done so, they aren't going back

We have the most anti-free speech government in modern American history. (And yet, in true Orwellian fashion, they claim to be champions of free speech.)

NEW 🧵 The number of people travelling from Europe to the US in recent weeks has plummeted by as much as 35%, as travellers have cancelled plans in response to Trump’s policies and rhetoric, and horror stories from the border. Story: www.ft.com/content/6dc1...

Balaji Srinivasan suggests giving Elon Musk “control of a huge swath of land surrounding Starbase, Texas” & designate that land as “a military base or … similar, so that [Musk] can fence it off & determine at his sole discretion who can enter.” Then replicate in other states w/ other Tech Bros. 1/

In economics, as in geopolitics, Trump fundamentally misunderstands the limits of American power. It is at the centre of everything he does. The markets, the only real impediment to him now, may be about to teach him how wrong he is. New writing from me. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...

One thing that will really help bring industrial production back to America is instability. Capital loves instability. Give it a wildly different and contradictory set of economic policies every 72 hrs and that’s when industry will be like, you know what let’s build some new production capacity.

THERE IS STILL 125% TARIFFS ON CHINA AND 10% ON THE REST OF THE WORLD, THAT IS STILL BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tariffs still in place: —125% on Chinese imports —25% on steel, aluminum and auto imports —10% on nearly all other imports Tariffs coming: —On copper, lumber, semiconductor and pharma imports —And maybe on other countries, depending on how the next 90 days go And the S&P 500 is up 9% on the day

The leader of ICE said that this is "his dream for the agency": “We need to get better at treating this like a business,” Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said, explaining he wants to see a deportation process “like (Amazon) Prime, but with human beings.” michiganadvance.com/2025/04/09/i...

Thank you for your attention in this pump and dump scheme.

Economist Peter Schiff: “The crash that's now happening in the bond market has more dire implications than…the stock market. If these tariffs remain in place, the US could have a full-blown financial crisis by the fall that makes the 2008 Financial Crisis look like a Sunday school picnic.”

>bonds, stocks, oil, and crypto are all now tanking at the same time now

@teamlabouruk.bsky.social hope you’re paying attention

I think it’s a great negotiating strategy to publicly refer to the people you’re talking to as groveling before you and kissing your ass while also announcing new tariffs on pharmaceuticals. It really makes it easy to sell any potential deals back to their own domestic audiences.
