It would be so nice to have have a consistent user experience between my home machines and work. I can only learn so many keybinds!

Hear me out; all my followers are, at best, neural networks trained on petabytes of data. Data ingested in a semi structured way? Data ingested wholly unstructed, from magical reality devices? I'll never know.

My face is being torn to shreds by the love and affection of my now 10+ year old cat. She has claws, and absolutely no idea that the human face wasn't made for them. Also, she isn't usually this aggressive with her love. I hope everything is alright with her 😔

So, I have a 60hz UHD monitor that I got for free from work. I've been toying with the idea of getting a 4k with a higher refresh rate, but none of the games I play (Diablo 4, Cyberpunk 2077, Baldurs Gate 3) even seem to get above 60 FPS on my 3080. Am I just missing something about my GPU?

This is why the term write only code exists

If you don't believe a computer can get tired you simply haven't used one for a long enough stretch of time

Waydroid is neat. I shall add it to my collection of Linux enhancing software.

I’m getting the Cyberpunk itch..

ABC stands for Always Be Compiling. Change a comment while trying to debug your test? Compile and test just in case Pretty sure you broke an existing passing test? Compile just to be sure. Lost track of what you were doing? Compile and let the computer tell you where you left off

This is not an AI generated photo. This is actually a photo af a motel in Nashville. And in my opinion, it is the most cyberpunk thing I’ve seen today. #photos #cuberpunk #decay

Ok. Mission success! I have a used Arduino Uno which emits a "scrambled" number guessing game, a used Arduino Mega that can unscramble it, and 6 used netbooks from 2009 running i3. It's cyberpunking time!

🤣

The "cyber decks" are so old they can't run Hyprland. I need a new plan. Probably i3 with some fancy configs? Anyone have a nice i3 setup they can share?

Spent 3 hours debugging stuff at work, that someone sent me to debug. They sent me a version of the data that didn't match the stuff we were investigating. Saving into the wrong file happens at all levels.

Security pro tip: if you find a USB key on the ground somewhere, DO NOT plug it in to your home computer. Take it to the office and plug it in there. They have way better software that will mitigate any threats.

Personal rant; when I was young, I convinced my brother to use Linux if I could get his iPod working with it. 2 weeks later, success. 1 month later, Apple released an update encrypting the song db to prevent third party software. I do not use Apple devices. Closed ecosystems. Taking, no giving. Bad

In other news; I got a qemu Arch install up and running, using MBR (the target it like netbooks from 2010). I have this weird issue where the UI (Wayland/Hyprland) is flickering, and has strange rendering problems, but other than that, seems to be working. Netbooks have 2g RAM; install uses 700mb

Turns out everyone coming to the Cyberpunk one shot knows how to code! Most excellent! I shall make net runners of them yet

ScummVM 2.9.0 for retro gaming is approaching and in need of testing

I got this idea that it'd be cool to make a "roll simulator" that took inputs like "1d20+2d6+10" and produced a histogram of a few thousand simulated rolls for my Cyberpunk campaign. All the histograms look roughly identical. A bell curve. I could just put a bell curve, and no one would notice.

SQL is the best medicine

Ok, so my cyberpunk red campaign is coming along... No, I haven't written a plot, but, yes, I did buy a bunch of junky netbooks ($10/each) to turn into "terminals" that will somehow be used in the game

Windows vs Linux system requirements

linux is really easy to use when you accept that it's not windows

Many think Rust is primarily about memory safety, but the real reason to use Rust is developer productivity (for C++-like system programming) from having a sane package manager and type system.

It's turtles all the way down. Sitting in a meeting about building an Uber pipeline which will let us trace data through multiple stages to isolate problematic systems. It will provide a unified view. We can use it to get brilliant insights. I must have built this 20 times.

As a color challenged person, this is going to become one of my favorite references when someone tells me to click the red button.

I was up late tinkering with dotfiles and now I'm at work in zombie mode. BUT my desktop still looks like junk

devs! want to build something on #atproto but not sure where to start? check out this "Call for Projects" with a bunch of ideas, ranging from protocol frameworks, to entire apps, to bots

How does this site make money? I don't see any ads, and I didn't pay a subscription fee.

Innis readying for bed - or not!

There's no better way to feel productive, but not actually be productive, than to spend an afternoon tinkering with dotfiles.

Alrighty, battery charging time. Night y'all!

Am I correct in thinking that whoever control the firehose has absolute (or at least significant) control of the moderation of the site? They get to choose which repos are indexed, and by ignoring repos can effectively "ban" users? Are there firehoses other than the one provided by bsky?
