Tonight's 40-minute drive home took an hour twenty because I had to turn around 3 times due to flooded roads. I called husband at one point and told him I wasn't sure how I was going to get home. Entire shoulders were washed away We're expecting more rain tomorrow. We ain't ready for climate change

Honestly, "go out and touch grass" isn't just a sarcastic statement that you're terminally online. Sometimes, it's literally just that you've clearly spent way too much time hurting yourself trying to do something, and instead of bashing your face into a wall, you should probably take a break.

"why even bother?" because it brings you joy. because it brings you satisfaction. because it makes others smile/laugh/cry. because that's worthwhile. next question.

Right, #Booksky, used to get 100's of replies to these on Twitter so.... My day job is buying books for 34 libraries, help me and my customers out by telling me the best fiction book(s) you've read in 2025. Rules: can be any genre and doesn't have to be new, but NOTHING self-published gogogo! 📚

Why does no one think it's strange that Giles is hanging out with a group of teens?

I made Spanish rice for dinner

Hear me out: birdwatching is inevitable. You can slowly and depressingly descend into it (as this New Yorker article once said) Or you can dive right in. Download Merlin and start to become an expert before the rest of your peers. When they make the descent you’ll be a hero.

Well that was some of the kills wild driving conditions I've dealt with in a long while. The weather gods are angry.

As Jeff tells us, verges and the other tiny natural spaces in cities are very important.

i don’t really want to hear “what’d you expect after dobbs” from the cis repro justice girlies today. 1) we’re not surprised but that doesn’t help 2) trans people are among the most committed repro justice organizers i know. but it’s not reciprocated

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO. Back blown out summer is about to lead to a walls banged in fall and winter babyyyyyyyyy. 🤪 But for real, learn more about THIS long acting injectable and other options like it (called #PrEP) for #HIV prevention by visiting #IAmHIVPossible.org. 🩷

Ok, so I'm not going to reply or re-post the discourse about romantasy, but one of my *least favorite* tropes is bad ass woman falls in love and then decides to have babies. Like, you're a goddamn warrior with all sorts of loose ends (missing monster in the basement) and you just stop adventuring?!

Or peri and menopausal people who need HRT.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “lmao" said Gandalf, “well it has.”

If you were to sum up the entirety of my late life (re) education about SCOTUS in one post, this would be it.

Folks, we have a new journalist contrarian grifter on our hands. Paul Tough. The type of contrarian who plays societal prejudices against the medical expertise and lived experiences of most ppl with ADHD. Please don't spread his misinformation.

I just watched a fairly complicated video of someone making "iron infused water" in order to "not be tired" and I wonder why they just don't take iron supplements. You do not need to boil a cast iron fish in some salty water and freeze for ice cubes, I promise.

Husband preferred serving under Reservist officers than academy because they actually worked, but both go through (a version of) basic training. Will these folks have to go through MEPS, drug screening, STI screening, and how to lace their boots? I can't imagine this will help morale.

I think there's a connection somewhere with the idea of college being a bunch of check marks to achieve. Getting "through" this check marks as fast as possible. And, also, the whole outsourcing reading, thinking, and writing.

Neuroplasticity does NOT only happen during childhood and contrary to popular belief, neurogenesis does continue to happen throughout adulthood, so not only is language learning/acquisition not impossible at an older age but it stimulates neurogenesis and it boosts non-verbal cognitive activity, too

Well, um, I think I can turn off this hockey game. I'm tired anyway. Tomorrow will be another weird day.

Shared this on Instagram but he’s just so cute that everyone here needs to see him, too.

Sorry to interrupt the general ~mood~ but I need book recs. Historians: best book(s) about Columbus, the Spanish empire, conquistadores, etc?

This anthem singer must be Opera trained

Oh man, just saw a preview of the OSU sexual assault documentary and... Wooo boy

why is it so hard to find research on students' sense of belonging in remedial ed in the postsecondary setting? Because it's all in dissertations.

Whether visible or invisible, permanent or temporary, almost all of us will have or know someone with a disability. As Mayor, I’ll fight like hell for truly accessible public transit.

Hey #academicsky and #PhDsky, I'm working on structuring my lit review and am looking for suggestions of readings, articles, books, and/or authors! I generally have starting points for each of these topics, but the more the merrier! 🧵

Lately it’s that a lot of people are going to die in the next big disaster in the United States.

My current hyper focus is the drawer with all of the cables in it. I started organizing them tonight. I ordered cable labels. All because I can't find a cable to get articles to my Kobo. I ordered one of those too (according to the description, the last cable I'll ever buy).

I disagree with Hochul on a lot. As in, I hoped she'd be primaried. But... Here we are. She's stepping up in certain ways.

For the record, I would like to share that I'm not terrible at growing dill. There is something in/around my yard who thinks dill is delicious.
