Wake up, babe. New sewing kit just dropped.

There's some new neighbors across the hall from me. Glad to see they take fire safety seriously.

My Duolingo icon at 11:45 pm

Chaukor in all its blocked glory.

Spent the evening updating my Ravelry projects list with all the blocked shawls and a bunch of other random projects that I made at some point and never logged. My brain is now repeating "Updated my journal" on loop in the voice of the Nameless One from Planescape: Torment.

My backlog of unblocked knitted shawls from the past 3+ years has been nagging at me, so since I took the blocking towels out for baby sweaters, I committed to clearing the backlog. Here's the big bois: Brick and Roll, Viera, Koriburi, and Les Vacances d'Hercule Poirot.

Remember back in undergrad when it was torture to find enough material to fill a 10 minute presentation? Sure was easier than struggling to condense a solid 3 hrs of material into a coherent 15 - 20 minute talk. It's been a hot minute since I had to prep a conference talk, is what I'm saying.

So anyway, that's why I learned to knit... >.>

Absolutely terrible lighting, but we've got a LORGE BOI on the pins tonight. Wingspan is all of a beach towel plus most of a large bath towel.

The absolute moment of PANIC that hit my brain when I saw a new Tropical Tidbits video on Youtube... Thankfully just a season preview. Panic slightly abated for now.

The blocking towels were out AND I just sewed in shawl ends, so no more excuses for procrastinating. Funfetti and Geology shawlettes drying on the pins.

And finally, Brick and Roll (triangle shawl). Garter and slip stitches for maximum squish, and the colors are *electric* against the black contrast yarn.

Next up: Funfetti shawlette. The main yarn in this is Night Owl Fibers Tawny Owl in the color "Who You Gonna Call", and it's delightfully soft. (I used the leftovers from this to make a pair of socks for my sister)

Fewer ends to weave in on this one. Les Vacances d'Hercule Poirot, an asymmetric crescent shawl.

Instead of starting a new knitting project tonight, figured I'd make some progress on sewing ends in on a bunch of completed shawls that need final finishing. This is the Geology shawlette, with 23 individual ends to sew in...and now you know why I've been procrastinating for a couple of years.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled sock knitting for smol sweaters on the obnoxiously green Towel of Blocking™. Don't ask about the button situation.

Absolutely worth it for the "Titular Shark" footnote alone.

Finally, the Owl gets to the important bits of German.

Today is going to be a quieter day than I planned, thanks to another mild citrate reaction while donating platelets/plasma this morning. Still, somebody's getting fresh platelets so it's worth it. 🩸 I'm fine, but it sure isn't a great feeling and throws me off my game (assuming I even had one).

Hexagons are also pretty much a visual shorthand for "Be(e)hold, Chemistry!", so you get even more science per hexagon. That's just value.

We have moved on from "this meeting could have been an email", to "No, seriously, why the hell was I even included in this email in the first place?"

Sock flock complete.

I have a goal to one day include an "I asked a 5-YO/barista/artist/guy sitting at the hotel bar to make me a picture of <subject>" in a presentation as an alternative to the "I asked <AI> to make me a picture of <thing>" that everyone else is doing...but a pic of Tinsel saying NO is also an option.

I am pacing between watching rock dissolve (scientifically!), and watching an instrument misbehave (scientifically?), while thinking about my to-do list and dreaming about thread colors for an embroidered tea towel project. Multitasking!
