It's been a fun creative exploration with a slight challenge of my own! Compilation for @animturnbull.bsky.social's cycle challenge! January - Charge Spin Attack. February - Backflip locomotion set. March - Keyframing in Unreal. April - Cartoony style.

there's SO much nuance to animating even a vanilla run cycle. the answers are all in reference footage, but the more you look the more subtleties you notice! eg. how much yaw rotation does the head actually engage in? generally the eyes are kept forward, but there still is SOME rotation! how much?

today was spent on a very quick pass on an idle breathing animation! needs to be refined further but the main ideas are there! #gamedev #gameanimation #solodev

The last two nights have been a million small improvements to things already made, I started to feel like I needed to harden and button a few ideas up. Lots of physics state tracking with tackle, torque nudging to keep the bobber upright in water, & re-building aiming logic for height 😤 #gamedev

Making good progress on the slapdash version of the casting loop! Lots of implementing and immediately understanding what the better version needs to look or feel like. Still just functional anims for now, but rounding back to them after I knock out the rest of the interaction flow🎣 #gamedev
