It's pretty clear at this point that they literally nothing more than armed thugs arresting brown people for being brown... and they are sticking with decent folks because gang bangers scare them, and the richies aren't giving up their undocumented nannies, cooks, gardeners, and housecleaners.

The fact that Fort Worth Texas has a back log of over 900 rape kits they 'don't have time' to test, but Texas Sheriffs did have the time to spend a month tracking a woman who MIGHT have been going out of state for an abortion tells you all you need to know about what Texas thinks about women..

This feels like Alien vs Sexual Predator

I'll never get over how the best line in all of noir – "I've got eight slugs in me. One's lead, and the rest are bourbon" – doesn't come from Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett, but Calvin and Hobbes

With alt-text:

Amazing. Respect the lede.

Bet all those people who said Suetonius was making shit up "because emperors didn't really act that way" are feeling pretty fucking stupid tonight

Why is it always "you need to learn how to take a joke," and never "I need to learn to read the fucking room"?

WE NEED TO SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGE BOTH SIDES HERE

The straightest thing you can do as a man is to think a lot about two other guys' balls.

A homecare nurse came to start IV. Getting them to mask was a battle. Then they refused to wash their hands. Told me it was aseptic, not a sterile technique. They had taken 2 elevators to get to me, and were about to stick me with a needle. Infection control how I miss thee.

And when we, the patients, complain or refuse to allow them to ignore protocol, *we're* tagged as Hostile Patients or Non-Compliant by the home healthcare agencies. It's only if our doctors advocate for us that we may get a better care. It's not threading a needle, it's a mine field.

I have tried to get normal people to believe this and it's basically impossible. A tidal wave of death and suffering was being held back by a trivial piece of the US budget, but our brains just aren't wired to understand the world that way.

Some of y'all can't handle 2 high agency males going at it and it really shows

must be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to have federal funding that was promised to you for important work suddenly and arbitrarily ripped away

i'm starting to see some scoldy posts pointing out that we are laughing about a fire on the deck of our sinking ship and i have to be honest once the ship started sinking i decided i would take the laughs where i found them

When the worst person you know gets bitten by a snake, you don’t try to befriend the snake. You observe said biting from a considerable distance and enjoy the schadenfreude.

Masked ICE thugs terrorized Chicago yesterday. They lied to immigrants waiting for their court hearing by summoning them for “surprise check-ins” and then assaulted protesters and elected officials. THIS IS WHAT FASCISM LOOKS LIKE.

I think we’re making some progress now on this therapy session. Yes, this is real.

Oh.

I wish them both the worst.

Really poignant piece of street art from artist TopZ out of Seattle!

very fun to read frederick douglass accurately describe the problem with the pardon power in 1867

This might be the absolute greatest reply we have ever received. Thank you, Cookie Monster 📕🍪💙

I'm just glad one of these men has the nuclear codes and the other has all our personal data.

oh there is incredible stuff happening LMFAO

I doubt we should have any exception to the policy "The president should not murder his enemies" but I am 100% willing to observe a controlled experiment with n=1 to test my theory. I am a man of science.

once again I must tap my own sign

also @klobuchar.senate.gov @amyklobuchar.com "At this point, it’s not just disappointing, it’s indefensible that so many Democrats waved this law through, despite its deep alignment with censorship, discrimination, and religious orthodoxy." Do better. www.techdirt.com/2025/06/05/a...

Yglesias thinks we should welcome neo-Nazi billionaires into the Democratic Party.

As NB.1.8.1 spreads, there’s only one thing spreading faster: misinformation. Here, I run down 5 of the most common errors I see circulating about COVID and encourage people to integrate airborne disease mitigation into their lives holistically. www.thegauntlet.news/p/common-mis...

The enemy of my enemy is still my enemy but I still like seeing them fight

Won’t somone consider how hard it is on concentration camp guards, cut off from their families and basic luxuries?

This post really made me realize how "woke" doesn't even just mean "anything non-cishet white," it literally means "anything that I perceive as being different from things I saw when I was 12 years old"

Good for Gov. Walz, who refuses to throw marginalized children under the bus because it's a "difficult" topic. As a high school teacher and football coach, Coach Walz was the faculty sponsor for Mankato High School's Gay-Straught Alliance student club. Thank you Coach for this great example!

Most people think COVID is mild, doesn’t have long term effects, and that they have lasting immunity—because that’s what the New York Times, the Atlantic, NPR, Good Morning America, and all the rest, tell them.

Maybe it would help if the local cops and the Feds didn’t roll up to neighborhood like they’re ready for war. “We had an obligation to protect the people of this city.” — Minneapolis Police Chief O’Hara

Lyft driver picked me up from UNC, turned out he was a medicinal chemistry post-doc in a building near mine, until his grant got cut last month. Worked on novel antivirals.

Gov. Tim Walz is doubling down on trans rights — and criticizing members of his party who are retreating — at a time when the issue has become a political lightning rod nationally and back home in Minnesota.

I started writing something important to me tonight. Not really sure what it is, but I’ll share the end of it. Watching the tech industry do what it’s doing sickens me, and I want people to know why.
