Nottingham University UCU express our solidarity with Palestine Action and condemn the government's attempt to proscribe the group under anti-terrorism laws. Palestine Action is one of many groups across the UK taking a moral stance against the ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Met with President Zelenskyy ahead of the signature of the bilateral agreement between @coe.int and Ukraine on the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression. His visit sends a powerful message: Law must speak louder than the bombs. The arc of history bends toward justice.

The Council of Europe and Ukraine sign an Agreement on establishing a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine. Its mission: prosecute senior leaders for the unlawful use of force against Ukraine, upholding international law & accountability.

On the DMU UCU picket line. More redundancies at another university. Solidarity to all who are under threat.

UCU have called on BCU leadership to take redundancies off the table, as part of our ongoing dispute demands to protect jobs & negotiate on performance targets. With 340 jobs at risk & a live strike ballot, join our branch meeting on Monday to set a position to empower our negotiators.

The results of the De Montfort university UCU branch's formal No Confidence ballot have now been confirmed: a resounding 90% voted no confidence in the VC and the ULB This is the fourth significant No Confidence vote passed during the current round of proposed redundancies

This new law bans the use of replacement workers 🚫👷‍♂️ during legal strikes and lockouts in federally regulated sectors like telecom 📡, transport 🚛 and banking 🏦. This victory was decades in the making, thanks to tireless organizing, lobbying 🤝, and political action 🗳️ by unions and allies.

This Saturday, is Budapest Pride, industriAll Europe sends its #Solidarity & stand for equality, dignity and human rights in Hungary and beyond. 🟣 Solidarity with Pride means no discrimination at work. Attacks on LGBTI+ rights are attacks on trade union rights. #BudapestPride

Sounds great! ⤵️

"Politicians rightly champion our other UK exports – our cars, our pharmaceuticals, our creative industries...To put it another way, in many towns and cities, higher education is the car plant, or the steel mill, or the pharmaceuticals factory that drives local economies." wonkhe.com/blogs/intern...

It’s day 1 of the strike at Rainchester Wetropolitan University! Obviously being northern we’re made of sterner stuff so the drizzle won’t put us off in our fight for fair pay!

Nearly 50 years ago the Grunwick strike "was a defining moment in the trade union and political lives of tens of thousands, who came to the streets of Brent to back the workers." Townsend Productions are touring their play about the strike this autumn. www.townsendproductions.org.uk/shows/we-are...

Engagement from our students is deeply encouraging: we are fighting these cuts because staff working conditions are student learning conditions. #DefendDMU

In March, Ministers launched the ‘National Estate for Nature’ group – bringing together some of England's largest landowners to do more to restore nature. I've now mapped what these landowners own - & set out what the National Estate for Nature should do next 1/ whoownsengland.org/2025/06/10/m...

I managed to sleep a few hours. It was the hardest night in Kyiv. 14 people were killed and 99 were injured. Perhaps it is not a final number 💔 I opened the window (luckily, I still have one after this night). Then closed it. Kyiv is covered in terrible smoke.

Kyiv was hit by a deadly Russian missile & drone strike—14 civilians confirmed dead. Fires raged across districts. Homes, a kindergarten, and a dormitory were damaged. Parts of the city are without power. A major blaze erupted near Zhuliany Airport, and rescue teams are searching in Solomianskyi.

"Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Hungary and Slovakia have paid Moscow €5.4 billion in tax revenues on crude oil alone, the research found — enough to cover the cost of 1,800 Iskander-M missiles." ↪️ #shame on SK and HU, as #Putin 's 🇷🇺allies, while alternatives available❗️
