Hannity’s February interview with Trump and Musk: “And now I see they want you two to start — they want a divorce.  They want you two to start hating each other.” The always undefined “they” got their way, at least momentarily. Musk needs taxpayer dollars.

NEW REPORT: Artificial Power, our 2025 Landscape Report, is out. Today’s AI isn’t just being used by us, it’s being used on us. We urgently need to reclaim public power over the future trajectory of AI. Another path is possible. Read the report: ainowinstitute.org/2025-landscape

New “memento mori” just dropped, in case you’re still not taking living life seriously

Ban them again

I realize posting this here is preaching to the choir. But after the Grok White Genocide thing & Ye essentially launching an exclusive Neo Nazi single on the platform... I felt motivated to write about X and how bizarre it is that so many people (news outlets, celebrities, politicians) use it

This is good to see: Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF) has informed Paramount Global executives that it plans to file a lawsuit if Paramount settles with President Donald Trump over his court case against CBS News. freedom.press/issues/we-pl...

"Tech magnates have said that licensing the material they want to use to train their LLMs would be prohibitively expensive, so they would prefer simply to steal it, thanks. To this the Copyright Office has, apparently, said Uh, not so fast guys."

"The proposed moratorium on state AI policymaking would be far worse than Congress’s inaction....States play an essential role in AI regulation — eliminating that will leave Americans more exposed to risks and with fewer avenues to influence AI policies." www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind.

This is insane. Republicans have inserted language into the budget reconciliation bill that would ban states from regulating AI in any capacity for 10 years. from @404media.co www.404media.co/republicans-...

“The tech billionaires’ unshakable faith in this religion of technological salvation leads them to believe the end of this world, and the advent of a perfect one, is nigh. AI and space colonization will lead to utopia, algorithmically guaranteed.”

Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses. Real buttons are sooooooo back baby!

“Terry. Terry. I am the Pope. Did you see the picture? The hat? The beautiful white hat? The tremendous cross? Get him the picture.”

Got mad about Zuckerberg's "let's just build AI friends for everyone" thing. I miss the old Facebook. The one that had more social value than profit. Why can't Zuckerberg point all that money and engineering capacity in the direction of building something *good?* open.substack.com/pub/davekarp...

Lots of recent calls for mass protest in the US haven't explained how the resulting crowds can help produce better outcomes. This piece by @olufemiotaiwo.bsky.social talks about why that's a problem and offers a theory of change that has important implications for movement strategy.

The average American has 3 eggs, but has demand for 15. So here are 12 photographs of eggs. I am a business man.

The Internet of Things ended up being the internet of unsupported products. Google is ending support for 1st & 2nd generation Nests and completely pulling out of Europe. Imagine having to replace the thermostats in your home because of a reorg at some big tech meant it was no longer a priority.

I don’t want this iteration of the United States. I want what we still can be… if we value the freedom of all and fight against the lies of fantasy and hate.

"When tech interests capture the US government to this extent, other countries must stand up to Trump’s threats to avert a global slide into techno-fascism." - @courtneyr.bsky.social

Well, you can’t lick a badger twice

Ever since Kilmar Abrego García was wrongly deported, his wife, Jennifer, has had no choice but to become everything at once: A single mother to three kids with special needs. An advocate. A fighter. I spent an afternoon with Jennifer. Here’s her story: www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

Senator Durbin has always fought for working families. He hasn't been afraid to stand up to powerful interests and championed the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I'm grateful for @durbin.senate.gov's years of service.

It's likely that there will never be a site like 4chan again. But everything now—from X and YouTube to global politics—seems to carry its toxic legacy. www.wired.com/story/4chan-...

"We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both." —Louis Brandeis

This statement from the NSF is insane. Science is, in essence, designed to separate the true from the false. Understanding how falsehoods spread is key to the scientific endeavor. It is not a violation of free speech to be proven wrong.

Remote work doesn't diminish the power of ethical leadership, according to business scholars. New research shows employees feel more committed and perform better when leaders demonstrate integrity, even in virtual environments. buff.ly/YRUY3Rt

As David Brooks has said, we’re approaching civil disobedience and national strikes phase of defending our nation.

AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO STAND FOR IT! CFPB workers work for all Americans! 📍Find an action near you this weekend and help us #saveCFPB + #SaveOurServices ▶️ www.mobilize.us/nteu/

real Leo Ryan behavior here from Senator Van Hollen and that is legitimately the highest praise i can give a member of Congress

Earned a new Bluesky achievement for using it to check if a service (Spotify) is down for everyone else, like back in the Twitter days

We are way past impeachment time

Break 👏 it 👏up! Break 👏 it 👏up! Break 👏 it 👏up! If 'money talks' doesn't work and Zuckerberg loses this case- there's more hope for battling the rest of the Big Tech monopoly 🤞

“Since these mysteries are beyond us, let's pretend to be their organizers.” - Jean Cocteau

Here's a real "national emergency": College kids won't, and often can't, read a book from cover to cover. The rise of what one prof calls "functional illiteracy" in the iPhone Age is happening right when our imploding democracy needs critical thinkers My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/stud...

The budget passed by House Republicans today steals $880 billion from Medicaid to give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations. By voting for this cruel bill, Republicans have betrayed hardworking Americans by raising costs for those already struggling to make ends meet.

Every answer is some kind of snow job with this guy.

Started up a project with Astro and Sanity! Now just to figure out why anyone would want to do this

I signed a petition on Action Network telling Washington Post leadership to voluntarily recognize The Washington Post Tech Guild. Can you join me and take action?

Excellent capture of US tariffs impact by Singapore's PM Lawrence Wong.

Thank you, Senator Booker, for standing up for the American people.

what booker is doing right now is an example of what i mean when i say things like “we need more ambition right now.” there is room in american politics right now for people with ambition to take big stands and reap the rewards. he’s doing it!

Want to hear something eerie? I was just thinking about this guy, Jim Quinn, as I went about my routine this morning. Later, this article shows up in my news feed informing me of his death.
