Flight attendant: Is there a doctor on the plane? Me: Yes, but I'm not that kind of… Flight attendant: The pilots want to know about marine CO₂ removal and its role as a climate solution. Me: AT LAST!

So, take known serial sex offenders, and give them a government-sanctioned source of deep resentment and sexual inadequacy, while drastically reducing their ability to leave a DNA trace, or reason to care about doing so Proper galaxy brain level thinking there, lads. Bravo.

@robinince.bsky.social Lovely to see you tonight! Here are the tracks I mentioned if you wanted to have a listen... some old school and some very modern prog! www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZhR... www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQ8K...

If you missed my talk about Ada Lovelace, her connections to Nottingham, and the importance of DEI and taking small actions every day, you can watch it on YouTube now! Thanks to Notts Tech4Good for inviting me to speak, and thanks to everyone who donated... www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ChR...

A few tickets for tonight’s gig in Nottingham have become available

This is what the pro-Brexit argument has been reduced to now: "I like being able to needlessly inconvenience myself. Why are you taking it away from me?"

Nick Clegg has a bloody cheek piping up at all. It was the austerity he enabled that is most responsible for Brexit & the continued unravelling of our social fabric. Then he swanned off to piss around at meta. Twat.

I've spent most of the week working on tomorrow's talk about Ada Lovelace, her ties to Nottingham and surrounds, and a look at how small businesses can benefit from and get started with DEI. Tickets are free and the talk's online, so come along! www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ada-lovela...

parents/carers are going to hate me for this but: reading is a life skill and it doesn't matter if you don't enjoy it. You have to read to kids, and ideally, have them see you reading. Its like toothbrushing or tying up shoelaces. It can be minimal! 10-15 minutes on weekends makes a difference

Ugh, my phone updated to One UI 7 yesterday and it's horrible :(

For all that Reform say they hate wasting of taxpayer money, they sure do love spending it on by elections

This is bleak reading

Labour's twin problems: - Those who care the most about "too much immigration" will NEVER make Labour their first choice. Not when Reform and the Tories are both deliberately going much harder. - Those less concerned by the issue will be sick to their stomachs at yesterday's violent pitch right.

BBC reporting that Peter Sullivan, who has been in prison for murder for 38 years, has just had his conviction quashed. This is why I'm pleased we no longer have the death penalty.

Do you get it now?

"Guys! Guys, guys, guys! I've finally thought of a name for the tent strings!"

Contrary to what the fragile ego'd would have you believe. Being racist is a demonstration of weakness and insecurity. Being misogynistic is a demonstration of weakness and insecurity. Being homophobic is a demonstration of weakness and insecurity.

If you wouldn't accept "we are at risk of becoming an island of strangers" from Kemi Badenoch or Nigel Farage you probably shouldn't accept it from Keir Starmer. Don't pretzel yourself trying to explain why it's ok from the guy in the red tie.

the way democracy works now is that we keep voting for people to whack us in the nuts with bigger and bigger hammers. occasionally we vote for someone who says they’ll use smaller hammers, but guess what? bigger hammers

Half the country has spent the last 10 years furiously arguing with the other half, we spent 2 years not being able to go within 6ft of anyone, and a Labour government with a massive majority is somehow subservient to Nigel fucking Farage. Again. But yeah, *immigration* risks us becoming alienated

The Nottingham Tech For Good festival starts tomorrow, a series of talks, workshops and other events with an optimistic outlook for our tech community and industry. Please have a look at the events and grab your tickets soon - they're going fast! nt4g.org

It goes without saying that many Labour MPs will deep down find Starmer's immigration rhetoric nauseating. It is up to them to stand up and be counted, rather than face having their careers peter out into cowardly ignominy.

“well now we can’t underpay migrants we will *definitely* increase wages”, say all companies, stifling their laughter with fifty pound notes

@ents24.bsky.social Your website seems to be pretty useless. Tried from work, from home, from several machines, and all I get when trying to book a ticket for a certain events is a spinning wheel of doom that never loads...

Join me at Tech4Good Notts to find out why DEI is still important, even for start-ups and scale-ups, some simple but effective first steps in DEI, and a bit about current and new equality laws. Fri 16 May, 11:30 BST, online, tickets free: www.eventbrite.co.uk...

Labour has a whopping great majority and four years left to turn this country around. They should be setting the agenda, not chasing about trying to placate voters of a party with five MPs who will never vote for them anyway. It's not only disappointing... it's embarrassing

Why is DEI important for start-ups & scale-ups? What simple but effective first steps can you take? Why is Ada Lovelace such a key figurehead for women in tech? Find out from my talk at Notts Tech4Good! Fri 16 May, 11:30 BST, online, tickets free: www.eventbrite.co.uk...

Just putting this out there, but if the Vatican opted to allow cremation, the process of choosing the new Pope could be made a lot more energy efficient.

What different national anthems mean: 🇺🇸 We have a flag and it’s seen some shit 🇬🇧 We keep asking God to save the monarch, but have to change the title every time He decides not to 🇦🇺 We’re a new country surrounded by ocean but by Christ we’ve got a lot of natural resources, come have a look

Shame that The Museum of Curiosity is closing its doors. I used to enjoy going to recordings of the #BBC radio show. @lydiamizon.bsky.social @mcfarlmo.bsky.social @schreiberland.bsky.social @chris.emerson.social www.comedy.co.uk/radio/news/8...

If you do a Google search on "second hand bookshops in Nottingham" we come up. We don't sell second hand books. If you do a search on "Christian bookshops in Nottingham" we come up. We are not a Christian bookshop. This has led, however, for requests for candle snuffers and, last week, holy water.

Remember: On Wed next week we'll be welcoming @loftio.co.uk to Techfast to talk about accessibility as part of the Nottingham Tech For Good festival. Come along to the @bjss.com offices on King St at 7:30am to get some free breakfast and hear what Lex has to say! www.meetup.com/notts-techfa...

Roughly 17,000 councillors in the UK. Nearly 6500 Labour. Just over 5000 Tory. 3000 Lib Dem. Reform have 799 and suddenly N.F. is being touted by the media as the next Prime Minister? The Green Party have 850 councillors. Why aren't the Green Party being bigged-up by the press? Seriously, why?
