I'm trying to imagine a Democratic president saying openly and proudly that he would be sending federal agents to target the 'Republican Power Center' in Texas, Florida, and Tennessee. We would be in the midst of a civil war before he'd finished saying those words.

Good explanation of the intention of Mike Lee’s aberrant behavior. Desensitize, dehumanize, devalue the lives of human beings less worthy than those in your tribe ie. Democratic legislators don’t matter so you can make a joke at the expense of folks who were murdered in their homes.

🧵I think it’s important to understand what disinformation like Sen. Mike Lee’s tweets are trying to do, psychologically/cognitively. In my disinfo class/Substack, I talk about how disinfo often uses “moral disengagement strategies” to manipulate people into accepting harmful conduct 1/

NOEM: We are here to dominate you, abuse your neighbors, and take away your right to be governed by people you choose in favor of being ruled by our hatred of you. And I'll not be taking any questions at this time.

noem saying thery're going to "liberate" california from its leaders seconds before federal law enforcement restrains and removes one of the state's senators from the room—like what else needs to be said

A few observations about where we are right now: The Trump administration is clearly targeting Democratic politicians through arrests and repression. This rightfully scares academics like myself who have seen this movie play out in other countries (Ukraine, Turkey, etc.). It doesn’t end well.

Republicans: you can either claim to be against fascistic overreach by the federal government, or you can cheer on the federal government attacking and threatening lawmakers you don't like for doing their jobs. You cannot do both.

Get offended, yes. But do more than that — go on offense. Stop allowing business as usual to proceed in the Senate. Grind the chamber to a halt.

We need to do something about dangerous cities! The feds should intervene! …in red states. www.thirdway.org/report/the-2...

Same here.

IMPORTANT: Before the fascist attack on Senator Alex Padilla, Kristi Noem said that her gestapo in California were staying to "liberate the city socialist and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country." Don't let that slide by.

The words "in effect" are doing an awful lot of work right now.

Sometimes, the New York Times, gets it exactly right: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/11/u...

When I heard the mom of a trans girl say the night her daughter came out to her was the first time she'd ever seen her child happy, I knew it was a story I needed to share. These are the stories the public isn't hearing. An honor to get to report on 3 family's journeys for @teenvogue.com.

Trump’s actions and his inactions would be the precise conduct of someone whose goal was to destroy our country. We need to face what that means.

I’ve never forgotten this picture from 2016 and how it completely reshaped my understanding of how the media covers protests.

Well this is awkward

As long as reporters in the briefing room and in the rope line etc don’t garbage Trump and Leavitt with this question - why did you pardon J6ers if you care about police safety? - they’ll continue to behave shamelessly hypocritically and won’t face any consequences.

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

"It gets somewhat lost in all the other high octane dimensions of this story that a raid on a Home Depot is literally an effort to arrest people who are eager to work and whose labor is in great demand. It’s about as far as you can get from just going after the bad guys, as the WH routinely claims."

At no point in this entire article of 16 paragraphs does ABC mention that another cop killed this cop by shooting her in the back. Nor does it mention the name of the cop who killed this cop. Nor does it mention that the civilians involved never fired at them. ABC might as well be state media.

Every accusation is a confession

Cannot stress enough that this is a pitiful action by a weak, scared, pathetic group of insecure, wannabe authoritarians, and they should be mocked until the end of time for wanting to bring in the military over some people protesting them at a Home Depot.

Actually, violent ICE vigilantes attacked peaceful protesters and demonstrators.

White House: "Violent mobs have attacked ICE officers and Federal Law Enforcement Officers." LAPD: "Today, demonstrations across the City of Los Angeles remained peaceful."

Just to recap, Trump has taken the extraordinary step of federalizing 2000 member of the California National Guard — over the objections of the state’s governor — in response to a protest that currently involves A FEW DOZEN PEOPLE AT A HOME DEPOT

Doesn’t sound like we need the national guard. 🤔

So, to be clear, Musk has now admitted he funded a man he believes to be a pedophile to be president. And Trump has now admitted that he gave access to high level government secrets to a man he believes to be a big time drug addict. This should be *the* story on the Sunday shows tomorrow.

The Obama administration deported over 3.16 million people. Biden’s passed 4.44 million. Not once did either need troops in the streets to do it. That’s all you need to know about what’s happening.

America's greatest threat is our own Government.

Fascism.

"So here's the plan -- we impose massive tariffs on the nations that sell us food." "Hmm." "But it's OK, because we just rely more on states like California that grow a lot of the same things." "Oh, I guess that ..." "And then we go to war with California."

Welcome to America, where protesting illegal kidnappings without due process is an insurrection, but attacking the nation’s Capitol is not.

California, btw, is a donor state - it pays almost 90 billion dollars more in federal taxes than it gets back

What will the 1% do when only the 1% can afford to live? They don't seem to see that this multi-decade squeeze ends in either a more just society, or in violent revolution. Right now, they have the power to choose. Eventually, the choice will be made for them. www.sfchronicle.com/tech/article...

Trump is mentally unwell, on top of cognitive decline *w/a vile, incompetent staff*. He's unhinged. 25thA-level. All we have to do is read transcripts. There's a reason the WH has yanked them & now fails to provide them for Felon47. The media is complicit. 🧾 www.publicnotice.co/p/trump-cogn...

New in PN: The real cover-up is of Trump's disordered mental state "Despite the endless handwringing about Biden Old, a sitting president acting like a cross between a 4Chan thread and Q truly is a major concern — one the mainstream media actively minimizes."

It’s still beyond horrifying to me that this dangerous crank is actually in charge of the Dept. of Health and Human Services. But then, I feel the same about *all* of Trump’s nominees. If you wanted to destroy a nation, these are the kinds of whacked out crackpots you would select. So.

Vought is lying. 60-70% of Project 2025's executive action proposals have been initiated or implemented — like gutting education and environmental laws. 30-40% is currently proposed as legislation — gutting healthcare, banking deregulations, voter suppression, and more.

If your defense of Trump's policies of cruelty & malice is, "look, we're ALL going to die, so why bother being compassionate, kind, or thinking about the future" ... you're in a cult.

"I am not afraid of death, but I am increasingly worried that these maniacs are going to kill us all."
