“A deranged maniac impersonated a police officer and killed lawmakers but if you’re an immigrant be sure you immediately comply with plain clothes people who won’t identify themselves telling you to get in a van”, what a fuckin country

A reminder to reporters, when historians look back on this moment with the president throwing himself a military parade and the people throwing No Kings rallies across America, the media sources raving about the former and sneering at the latter are going to be quoted by name. This is your legacy!

The people railing about Cowardly Liberals right now really don’t seem to understand how I bet at least 90% of the people who show up to protest would self-identify as if you asked them about their political beliefs

I'm pretty sure the only celebrity I've ever met, not just seen, is Bob Hayes. We worked with his nephew in Jacksonville and when he heard we were Cowboys fans, he came to the office and signed some pics and showed us his Super Bowl ring.

We know what we have to do to save our city from Andrew Cuomo. We're cross endorsing 🤝 @bradlander.bsky.social

2, 4, and 6, of course.

Jacksonville, FL, so maybe Lynyrd Skynyrd?

Today's youth will never know the thrill of getting lost on backroads in rural Georgia and buying a pocket atlas at a gas station in the middle of nowhere, trying to figure out how to get home.

Let’s talk for a moment about some of the more subtle ways that the press acts as a mouthpiece for law enforcement. Actor Jonathan Joss was shot to death on Sunday. I don’t know what happened; I wasn’t there. But his husband said a homophobic neighbor shot him as part of an explicit hate crime. /1

Grandpa: Hey kids, have I ever told you about the shocker?

Not only is this position morally gross, the facts are wrong. Kamala did better in states that were plastered with these shitty anti-trans ads!

We’re all looking for the guy who did this.

This was borne out by the election results. In PA, for example, the tv was blanketed with Trump's gross, "Kamala is for they/them" ads, and she did better here than in states where her campaign wasn't as active. Throwing trans people under the bus is morally reprehensible, & also a losing strategy.

I feel like the current round of political books is warping this discussion beyond recognition. While it’s certainly not easy to run a primary campaign against an incumbent and Biden (of course) preferred not to be primaried, it was not Biden but ALL THE OTHER DEMOCRATS who decided not to test him.

yeah i am pretty much on the side of primary everyone

Cobb and Poole forever! For All Mankind’s such an underrated show.

John Oliver's segment about trans athletes is a must watch for anyone who genuinely has "concerns" (and isn't just using that as cover for bigotry) www.readtpa.com/p/send-this-...

NYT Connections today was a swing and a miss. It's always subjective, but it was a mess today.

Happy Transgender Day of Visibility.  To the Transgender community in Illinois and around the country: You deserve to live your life proudly and openly. We see you and we will protect you.

just for the record, I have a zero-tolerance policy towards transphobia and if I see it in my mentions it's an instant block.

People argued that the Biden economy was all about the rich getting richer and they were lying. People overwhelmingly responded that *they* were doing fine but *everyone else* was suffering. People searched for reasons to explain why the vibes felt bad even if the reasons were nonsense.

What's the fucking purpose of this? The 7 assholes who voted for cloture but against the CR must think we're stupid. The cloture vote was the vote on the bill. Fuck all of them.

Cool so what happens if GOP attach a national abortion ban to a CR? You'll vote for that too? 🚮

To recap: Southwest’s own analyses have consistently shown that baggage fees will cost the company more in market share than they’ll bring in in new revenue, but private equity’s greed and fixation w/short-term profits is forcing all of these anti-consumer changes.

finally wrote the thing. there's been a lot of doom on here lately--a lot of confusion as to why we haven't simply kicked the bums out. that's not going to happen tomorrow. but it will happen eventually. this is how: www.liberalcurrents.com/roadmap-to-a...

How it started: How it's going:

A lot of crazy people saying grits, bacon and coffee. The correct order is apple juice, orange juice, pancakes and waffles. That's it!

Yep. It would make a much bigger statement if no Democrats attended the speech. Bringing a few special guests will do nothing.

seeing some people who should know better thinking they can work with Trump on NEPA. there is one Real Problems party in America, folks, and it ain't republicans. if you want to do anything constructive that's actually hard and important, you have one (1) option for doing so. sucks but true.

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...
