Great video; and, while I'm not near the expert Stoermer is, I would add that it was mainly an assault on older women. 80% of those accused in Salem were women and 2/3's of those women were over the age of 40 - past their childbearing years. Half the men accused were related to accused women.

And without you, we'd all still have a great app called Twitter.

This is right on, and economists call it a multiplier effect. The admin is currently putting into motion tens of thousands of cuts that will have a massive negative multiplier effect. To quote Bob Dylan, "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall."

Part of my institution's advice on using AI to create assignments: If you want to stick with (essays) ... , test out your prompt on an advanced chatbot ... if you have come up with an assignment that can be satisfactorily completed by computer software, why bother assigning it to a human being?"

"The time hath found us." -- Thomas Paine, 1776 As apropos today as it was almost 250 years ago.

This country was built on immigration. I'd like to ask the VIce President how he'd feel if we locked the doors before his ancestors got here.

The level of corruption, dishonesty, and grift in the current administration is terrible, but infinitely worse is the body politic's inability to put an end to it. Boldface lies, blatant bribery, total disregard for the rule of law, we must reject it all if America the idea is to survive.

Law and order for all of us, but complete immunity for him & his cronies.

Second big takeaway from today's plenary session @ the Alliance for Texas History's Inaugural Conference: @benjaminhjohns1.bsky.social call for a "Big Texas History." From the 19th to the 21st century the state's history is inextricably linked to the larger nation & world.

1 of 2 big takeaways from today's plenary session @ the Alliance for Texas History's Inaugural Conference: 1-Greg Cantrell's advice to focus on the goal of writing outstanding history & not being distracted by cultural & political debates.

I'm happy to be in San Marcos, Texas tonight for the Inaugural Annual Conference of the Alliance for Texas History. It's a shame what happened to the Texas State Historical Association, but all the state's best and brightest historians are starting a new tradition this week. #ATXH

I'm looking forward to heading to Gatineau, Quebec for #NASSH2025 in less than 2 weeks.

This comment from Robert Barron, appointed last week to Trump’s WH commission on religious liberty, was spot on, only he didn’t realize it.

I'm becoming more and more afraid that we are about to drop off a cliff economically. Alongside that, no ships entering Amer ports means no products on shelves eventually.

Another move that will damage the economy. It will, however, save some super super rich people some tax dollars, which is really the point of many, if not all, of these cuts.

He sucks as a President and he sucks as a historian.

Judges do decide if a President can deport people. Judges decide what we all can and can't do. It's called the rule of law and without it, as we've seen in recent weeks, businesses don't find investing safe and the economy suffers.

Excellent point; and I would argue our side has a much stronger claim on traditional Amer values like liberty, democracy, and the rule of law, especially right now. MAGA is almost exactly what the crafters of the U.S. Constitution tried to protect against.

Actually, the greatest friend of American Capitalism (among Presidents) was Franklin D. Roosevelt. Since FDR's reforms, we've avoided another epic downturn like the Great Depression and nobody has made more money than American big business and Wall St.

The Age of Treason

Wow. Wonder if this is going on in Texas too. Almost surely is. I use Honorlock to proctor quizzes and exams in my online courses. I can at least watch the recording and see that a real human took the assessment.

Crazy amounts of money being paid to even average college cagers. Glad the guys doing the most to sell the product are finally getting a cut. (And university's still avoid paying, lol!) Hopefully, it'll be a big boost for a lot of poor and working-class kids and their families.
