Fighting cheating has always been a big challenge for educators, because students have always cheated at exams and assignments (adults too). But if you're more focused on preventing cheating than on the new educational capabilities a technology provides, you're probably doing something wrong.

As someone who's hated AI hype since the previous hype cycle (2016-2017) I completely agree with this. Don't let AI hype and fraud turn you against AI in principle. AI is just advanced algorithms - something with endless applications that we've been using for a long time. It's not a bad thing.

For every successful Ukrainian strike against Russian MILITARY targets, Putin retaliates with intentional attacks on CIVILIAN targets. Russia is following the same reprisal policy as the Nazis.

At today's oral exams students from Iran, Pakistan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Vietnam, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and even a few from Italy. Unthinkable diversity for a Sicilian university just a few years ago.

A lot of people got very mad at the consequences of the policies that produced these charts like real wage growth and low unemployment/hot labor markets inflationary effects also ending forever wars and ambivalent about drone war ending. the incentives are not great. reaction is lowkey blackpilling

The supposedly pacifist people who refused to give credit to Biden for ending the Afghanistan war (for which he paid a huge political price) and chose to call him Genocide Joe instead and campaign against him, are one of the main reasons why no American president will try to avoid war any time soon.

I've been saying this since 2021 - wars will not end voluntarily ever again. People on the left keep claiming that Afghanistan was bound to happen and that Biden shouldn't get credit for ending the war, but we could have absolutely continued to kill tens of thousands of TB for years.

That this Netanyahu government strategy is designed to trigger a scenario where Egypt and eventually other Arab states, Turkey and the EU are forced to take in large numbers of expelled people from Gaza as part of a forced mass displacement policy has been visible for 18 months.

AI generated “satellite image” slop is becoming a real problem and spreading like wildfire. This will become the “video game footage” of 2025 and is even harder for the average person to notice. The details are more important than ever to noticing these fakes.

I remember falling asleep to sounds of American air defense when it was still present cause it actually made me feel safe (it is never happening again)

We all know European money belongs in Orban's pockets. It's a big shame and a sign of great weakness that Europe hasn't triggered Article 7 for Hungary yet.

eventually they're going to present us with a groundbreaking humanoid robot workforce that's just migrant labor at slave wages painted silver

Radio Liberty has published "before and after" satellite images of the Russian “Belaya” airbase in the Irkutsk region, which was attacked by Ukrainian drones. At least 11 strategic bombers were destroyed there: 7 Tu-95s and 4 Tu-22M3s. In addition, an An-12 transport aircraft was damaged.

1. Almost all of that money comes from government spending, the $1.1 billion is just the value of SpaceX's Prime Contracts with NASA 2. That $ might sound impressive but 30x forward revenues as a valuation multiple (SpaceX worth >400 bln) is insane 3. Musk is spectacularly dumb

Some deep strategic thinking here: you shouldn't strike at critical assets of an enemy military because that cut off the "off-ramps" that said enemy shows no sign of wanting to take.

This is the logical consequence of the American "escalation management" bullshit - now Washington is out of the loop.

It’s insane how many people were mad at inflation and then voted for this

Will eat crow and admit I never anticipated Ukraine outperforming them so dramatically in the Russian military's core competency: blowing up Russian aircraft.

Are you fucking kidding me @nytimes.com ?

Any time Putler's whiny bitches say something like this, NATO should say "If Ukraine can do this to you, image what all of us could do to you. Moscow will be a glass lake till the end of time." This is the energy NATO needs to project.

Appeasement - a famously successful strategy for dealing with aggressive dictators.

Dept. Q is good

It’s all really quite simple: Elon Musk is a mass murderer and any sane democratic system should hold him responsible

Accepting that the main difference between alcohol and a lot of other drugs is that alcohol is legal and has been integrated in mainstream culture over millennia helped me stop being judgemental about moderate drug use while remaining judgemental about drug abuse.

Wild story. German coast guard shadowed a Russian freighter and seven drones surrounded them. For three hours. CG left a known gunrunner ship to shadow this one. AIS got glitchy, drones galore. No one/nothing was shot/apprehended/documented? Also, drones were sighted over Ramstein on Mar 9th!?
