The Preservation Alliance has a weird thing about food and medical care and other things humans need to survive being free and available anywhere.

(Yeah, I assumed it was about me, but humans assume everything is about them, too. It’s not an uncommon problem, okay?)

Somewhere between 10 and 12 million of us showed up yesterday. 0 government buildings were raided. But sure, we are the problem :)

I need everyone on Normal People internet to know that American Girl Doll Instagram is doing doll protests today. There are tiny t-shirts and signs. AND THEN I realized it's a joint protest with the Barbie ppl, where there are EVEN TINIER SIGNS.

I asked ART, Do you want World Hoppers or something new? ART considered, poking thoughtfully at the tag data for the new show. It said, New, as long as it’s not realistic.

We’re honored to report that over 11 million showed up for today’s No Kings protest, and totals are still coming in. Just… wow. WOW 😮! There’s nothing more to say.

Show me what democracy looks like. This is what democracy looks like.

Stood beside someone willing to raise their voice. We did a lot more chants today than some days.

He needs a walker and they zip tied his hands behind him?!?

You know, it’s not like I’m half-assing this, I am actually trying my best despite the fuck-ups.

Facebook banned @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social for this essay, "Some Notes on the City of Angels and the Nature of Violence." So, make sure to read it and share it! "The Trump Administration is a huge surge of almost every kind of violence." www.meditationsinanemergency.com/some-notes-o...

You can't call immigrants lazy moochers looking for government handouts and then round them up at Home Depots where you know they are looking for work. You can't say immigrants don't follow the rules and then round them up in courthouses where they are following the rules. Get your lies straight.

We play our copy with several house rules (the main one about checking whether the youngest player knows a word). We enjoy this game and play with a wide age range and have been successful playing it over zoom.

If I sound calm, I was actually not calm.

CARTOON OF THE DAY (From @deadder.bsky.social ) 🇺🇸

Instagram guy I originally followed bc he's half of a photogenic cute gay couple continues to deliver better political analysis than most of us terminally online bsky politics posters.

Stand together

Worth bearing in mind that illegal entry is a misdemeanor and being unlawfully present in the country is not even a criminal offense, but a civil one. This is the equivalent of saying we need to torch the Constitution & send in the SWAT team to catch jaywalkers & people with overdue library books.

This is a pretty important point!

We’re fighting back. ✊✍️ Shoutout to our brave NIH colleagues behind the “Bethesda Declaration” No, you *cannot* attack medical research. It benefits us all.

The Los Angeles Police Department has stated that demonstrations in the city have remained peaceful. Let that sink in.

Here are some texts I got from an immigration lawyer friend of mine. Shared with permission. Some of the bleakest shit I’ve ever heard.

At the ICE raid and subsequent community resistance in Paramount, California this morning, this skater kid ate dozens of munitions from Border Patrol agents, walked away slowly and flipped them off.

Thinking of a hero I knew and admired.

There was some strange system where they all got their food and shelter and education and medical for free, no matter what job they did.

Quotes from co-workers "It's just these onesies and twosies of randomness"

Why the hell does everything have to happen at once?

pretending you were asking for more information was the best way to try to get the humans to realize they were doing something stupid.

(Humans have a bad tendency to use weapons unnecessarily and indiscriminately. Of the many times I had been shot, a depressingly large percentage of hits had come from clients who were trying to “help” me.)

"Why were we fighting again?" she asked eventually. "Because we're human and have baggage that love doesn't make disappear into thin air?" From "A Prince on Paper " by @alyssacolelit.bsky.social

It was too dark for her to see my expression. I’m not sure what it was but you could probably describe it as “skeptical.” (Ratthi says that’s how I look most of the time.)

Being terrified was starting to give way to being really angry.

"but in fact she was simply kind. Nothing so benign as nice or pleasant, but kind. There was nothing soft or gentle about that trait in a world that specialized in crushing it." From "A Prince on Paper " by @alyssacolelit.bsky.social

We have hope. Rebellions are built on hope.

I needed to have an emotion in private.

🤣

"She knew her friends cared, and she felt terrible for the odd resentment that they didn't care in the way she needed them to. They loved her, they were trying their best, but she didn't even know what she needed - how could anyone else?" From "A Prince on Paper" by @alyssacolelit.bsky.social

Elon's legacy ranges from gutting cancer research to setting in motion millions of deaths from starvation or disease. I'll be pushing for Congress to hold Elon & DOGE accountable—for every act of corruption, every disastrous consequence, and every law they have broken.
