There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd. It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

The fundamental flaw of broken authoritarian narcissists (the core of the right-wing coalition) is that they view empathy as a finite resource, such that, if you extend it to one group, you can't extend it to another. They see all of life through a lens of scarcity, competition, & selfishness.

The Trump administration has deported a 2-year-old American girl. Emanuelly Borges Santos was born in a Florida hospital in 2022. She has an American passport and a Social Security card. Nevertheless, she and her undocumented parents were packed onto a plane with 94 others and shipped to Brazil.

The only thing I like as much as getting a shipment of vinyl records, is when I get Rums I can't get in the U.S. (or are very hard to find in my region). Two examples: La Hechicera, a lovely dry, tasty rum from Colombia. And Mhoba, a wonderfully creative rum distillery in South Africa. Kanpai!

Today, I honor one of my DI's in Marine Boot Camp, SSgt. Allan "The Beast" Walker, who pinned on my Eagle, Globe & Anchor during graduation. He then whispered something to me I'll never forget. A year and a half later, I saw his face among the list of Marines who died in Iraq. Semper Fi, Beast.

Yup. This is how I see the DNC and most of the Dems in office. Their messaging, branding and communication skills are f'n awful. But hey, they are good at sending out fundraising communication, and little else.
