I'm more of a rocks kind of guy, but being among these ancient bristlecone pines was a fantastic experience high in California's White Mountains. Many of these trees are 4,000+ years old, and what is considered to be the oldest living tree on earth at nearly 5,000 years of age is within this forest.

This little Lazuli bunting sits way up high on the decaying raptor perch and sings their heart out while I take care of plantings. I’m overdue to replace this perch, especially considering its popularity with so many different birds. 🪶

Okay, this isn’t scientific, but I’m wondering if there is a food trend with our kestrels. The kestrels at my neighbor’s nest box keep bringing dragonflies to their young. The kestrels using the cottonwood seem to favor rodents and birds. 🤔 #birds

A little worried about one of the eagles after I looked at my photos from the last couple days. One of the juvies was dangling a foot, which I’ve seen before from a landing gone wrong. The next day, one was flapping around high in the tree. Today I saw only one, albeit with an apparently full crop.🙁
