Absolutely thrilled there is now a webplayer. This is genuinely life changing for my work-background house requirements.

Want to spend funded, remote summer time making something cool with data+art/making/craft for display in @scholarslab.bsky.social's public, library-based lab space? Proposals due this Fri 5/23, but they're short+project can be small, open to all: scholarslab.lib.virginia.edu/blog/scholar...

If you like: A. Nature 🌿 B. NYC 🍎 C. Fascinating people 🤸 You might come hang out on Zoom this Thursday evening with me & @ryanfm.bsky.social. We'll talk about their new book Wild NYC and almost certainly go wildly off topic...! binoculars-to-binomials.disco.co/share/o/T2Nj...

What's going on with Sunset Garden in Ridgewood? Depends on whether you ask the NYC Parks Department's community gardens program, the gardeners themselves, or avid New York Post readers.

I have a friend who is in town for 36 hours, and yes I met her at 7am for breakfast before she had an appointment. And yes I spent more time commuting to her than we did together. But that's ~friendship.

No one can ever doubt the level of dedication fans coming the city have for this team. I JOURNEYED here today.

I love a tree census

Earlier this year I read @badasscrossstitch.bsky.social's craftivism book and wanted to find ways to use my art for causes I care about. Well I designed some stickers based on things that inspire me and all profits will be donated! ko-fi.com/thecloudydes...

I knew who my #1 choice is, but this really helped me figure out 2-5 for my ballot.

I love tools like these. Makes it very easy for low-information voters to cut through the noise and find which candidate actually supports their priorities.

#DHmakes, if anyone's looking for a new method to learn. Or if you know+want to teach any is these (or similar crafts beyond this Eurocentric list) for a #DHmakes Methodz Talk, let me know! (I can do letterpress but already promised a resin talk, so don't feel like that one's taken)

I cannot recommend a final poster party instead of presentations highly enough. The students mingled and talked about their projects so naturally. They also seemed more curious than they would've in a Q&A. Its lower pressure than a presentation and they got experience designing posters.

“To watch these changes unfold without naming them for what they are is to participate in a collective amnesia about how knowledge infrastructures shape power relations” — appreciate & admire @alondra.bsky.social’s leadership in this moment (& so many others)

Got a bunch of starts for the vegetable plot. I wanted to grow things from seed, but some of that wasn't working out and I decided I don't have to make this harder for myself

I'm grading final projects for my DH class and we have everything from archiving fast fashion, analysis of crossword answers, and reviews of Black romance podcasts. I love this class.

“The New York Restoration Project has launched an effort to plant 1,000 thriving American chestnut trees that are hybridized with the blight-resistant Chinese chestnut tree across the five boroughs.”

Some sad confirmation from @bcgl.bsky.social while I was at UW last week—the National Digital Newspaper Program—which builds Chronicling America—has been shut down Historical newspapers are probably the archival material most used by the general public—for genealogy, local history—it’s such a loss

If you don't have a WNBA team yet, I've got three words for you: Ellie the Elephant. She is the moment.
