Marking season means time to delete every non-work app from existence, remember me well, friends

Impossible to overstate how unreadable most websites are on mobile these days. There’s an article in here, somewhere…

Marshmallow Blasted Froot Loops (1998-1999): Classic Froot Loops cereal, but with the addition of blue and white marshmallows shaped like mascot Toucan Sam. Marketed as an "EXTREME ADVENTURE!"

I appreciate that most people are, uh, not like me, but what's so odd about so many STAR WARS cosplays is that they use such bog standard fabrics - to me, the beauty of "GFFA" costumes are the TEXTURES!! [Ru Paul voice] I don't wanna see any fucking lightweight POLYPOP!

I have never felt more affirmed in my groaning drawers full of joke t-shirts than today in class, when a student complimented my top (DIY feat. a shot of Timothee Chalamet at the Golden Globes w/ 'FEAR IS THE MIND KILLER') and another student nodded and said "It's true, you have so many cool tops" 🥹

"States must act now to end the violence or bear witness to the annihilation of the Palestinian population in Gaza – an outcome with irreversible consequences for our shared humanity and multilateral order" - UN Human Rights Office Yet still @albomp.bsky.social & @senatorwong.bsky.social do nothing

I can always count on Alex for content tailored to my extremely niche needs

If Senator Murray Watt approves the North West Shelf extension, his legacy will forever be as the man who destroyed the oldest rock art on the planet. It will be an act of vandalism so gross that nothing he can do in politics thereafter could counter the damage.

#WinterIsComing

Statement from @asauthors.bsky.social on the SLQ decision to rescind @wyld.bsky.social's Black and Write fellowship: "This represents yet another alarming instance of the undermining of freedom of expression and arms-length arts funding from a major institution." www.asauthors.org.au/news/state-l...

King shit from Brian Eno

This is an extremely unedifying decision by City of Sydney and Vivid, particularly given the festival's official remit to turn Sydney into "a vibrant hub of creativity, innovation and community connection every winter"

this is a lovely profile. by just like, a journalist for a local UK paper. IMAGINE. it's not too late, human interest story journalists. literally a million of 'em begging to be told. (what if the shepherd magazine or the progressive farmer or small farm today profiled @farmerahmed12.bsky.social?)

Poor State Library of Qld: I hear it continued to stand strong for their prize and its worthy winner, @wyld.bsky.social until they got a legally-binding, mandatory directive from the Arts Minister to rescind it. Terrible position to be in. Over to publishers: this book needs to be picked up now.

"There was no operational justification to demolish buildings. They posed no threat to Israel. It had become a routine: The army got used to the idea that when you enter a house, you blow it up."

This was in the context of their having made *700* individual costumes for the film

Reading an int with ROGUE ONE costume designers Dave Crossman and Glyn Dillon. Love this point: "A background character has just as much chance of achieving [...] immortality by becoming a toy or trading card or having an entire comic book devoted to them, so every costume has to cut the mustard.”

But you know which moment fucked me up the most in ANDOR's final run of moments-designed-to-fuck-you-up? This one:

Anyway, thinking about some of the ROGUE ONE lines given different subtext by ANDOR, Cass' "This is a first for me" while "caged" in Saw's encampment doesn't strike me as that odd - on Narkina, he was *technically* free to leave his capsule whenever he wanted (i.e wanted to get fried).

"Amid a boom in data centers, the energy-intensive warehouses that run supercomputers for Big Tech companies, Arizona is racing to increase electricity production. [...] But it rejected a plan to bring electricity to parts of the Navajo Nation land"

'A rush to embrace artificial intelligence risks hampering universities’ net zero targets, with leaders being accused of generally overlooking the “hidden” huge environmental impact of the new technologies.' Said this in our Academic Board a year ago and was greeted with resounding silence. 1/2

Also... "to live life more like they want"?? Ah yes, ever since I was a child I dreamed of tipping potable water on the ground while a data centre burns through electricity not available to neighbouring First Nations communities, all so I could write an email

I get this question a lot. I don't have strong views on how transmasc people should dress, but since I often get the question, I've thought about it a bit. Will share some thoughts in this thread. 🧵

Gonna level with you Joey, I think "We should destroy every data centre before they finish cooking the world to uninhabitability" is the moderate position. The extreme one would involve visiting [redacted] upon the people responsible.

As a disabled and neurodivergent person whose work was stolen to train these piece of shit systems that have enormous environmental costs, yes, I am perfectly happy "ripping away" this technology.

Watching Penny Wong glacially inch from "concern" to "condemning" Israel's actions in Palestine while the rest of us wake up to daily videos of people obliterated by US bombs with the tacit approval of our government is like having one of those nightmares where you scream and no sound comes out

Waiting to see neurologist and I really love how often across the last year Covid has forced me to insert a vacuum cleaner into my wallet to suck out money I don’t really have. Wear a mask, folks!

the latest in showbiz news

This is so fucking good

The day has finally come: the robot vacuum was confused because its docking station had been knocked out of place, and was just spinning around in circles, and/so/but after plugging the station back in I found myself doing the "come here" kissy noise I make to summon Milly, to the robot.

"I am getting very sick & tired of having to go onto news programs because journalists aren't allowed in to point out what is happening here... this is a televised slaughter. History will not judge us kindly." I spoke today to Dr Tom Potokar, UK surgeon in Gaza: Full intv: zeteo.com/p/televised-...

Imagine thinking this situation was "complex" or still believing every "Israel says"/"Israel claims" report you see on the piss weak news.

ai has already kind of materially ruined the basic act of looking at pictures

AMEN: "What was even more telling to me, though, were the professors saying they used AI to deal with 'overwhelming workloads.' I believe them! But this also points to where AI is going. The correct response to AI for academia would have been smaller class sizes and more full-time faculty."

'Some say removing colonial statues would erase our heritage. Others say they're violent symbols that uphold a myth that there was nothing here before British colonisation. We meet the people taking things into their own hands.' www.sbs.com.au/news/the-fee...

The long history of starving Gaza ‘“…put the Palestinians on a diet, but not to make them die of hunger” To enable this, the Israeli government commissioned a 2008 study to work out exactly how many calories Palestinians would need to avoid malnutrition’ theconversation.com/israeli-sieg...

It's becoming evident that there are few paths for creatives in this country that aren't subject to the whims of weak-minded arts orgs and governments complicit in genocide. We need to tangibly support each other through independent means so we can all continue fighting, advocating, and creating.

They can rescind my award, take away my prize money, rip up the contract but I was still one of two winners of the prestigious Blak & Write Fellowship for 2025. A panel of peers read my manuscript, and selected my work as worthy of winning. Haters can not rob me of Blak joy

bro it’s okay that you need ai to help you write an email. anubis has weighed your soul against the feather of fate and found you unworthy. prepare to be devoured
