📊 Quinnipiac poll out today finds that only 12% of Democrats sympathize with Israelis over Palestinians in the current conflict h/t @jacobkornbluh.bsky.social

Welcome to the archives.

Dude, I promise you that no amount of anti-protest rhetoric is gonna make you look cool. Just stop. Work on your tedious writing style instead of posting this shit, please.

BREAKING: Federal agents in plain clothes and unmarked cars tried to snatch 1st graders from LA elementary schools—told staff they had “parental consent.” They lied. When pressed, they HID THEIR IDS. DHS admits they sent them. This wasn’t a welfare check. It was a test run for a police state.

In 1966 a national movement called the "Patriotic Party" committed itself to defeating the "socialist-communist conspiracy" that had infiltrated the federal gov't, strengthening the military, dissolving the Federal Reserve, and eliminating "non-defense gov't agencies." What they didn't say...

I cannot understand how people whose political instincts are this bad win elections.

Sorry to step away from the catfight, but we’ve got a win! A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to dismantle AmeriCorps halting the termination of grants and its volunteer network!

this is like drake and kendrick lamar but they're both drake

Cost estimate of the House-passed "Big Beautiful Bill" is out It'd be the largest cut to Medicaid+CHIP and SNAP in history while still increasing deficits by $2.4 trillion due to $3.8 trillion in tax cuts This'd be the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in history

I’m sorry, but all these guys in camouflage and this many armored vehicles all rolled out for one taco shop? The armored trucks w military cops hanging off them look like they should be rolling up the beaches of Normandy, not downtown Minneapolis. (Pics from the linked article.)

Unbelievable! Today, San Diego witnessed a government-sanctioned kidnapping. ICE stormed Buona Forchetta in military gear ripping workers away, then unleashing tear gas and smoke on the terrified community. Full on police state, fascism now used on American citizens. Stay aware. #OnYourSide

Please let’s talk about it. I have searched high and low for the old school egg rolls. Fat, bursting with cabbage and pork. Nowhere to be found.

Read for yourself this provision of the reconciliation bill, which is the current text just released by the House Rules Committee. Then read: Dean Erwin Chemerinsky's essay this morning in @justsecurity.org. Chemerinsky's essay is titled: "A Terrible Idea" www.justsecurity.org/113529/terri...

Even Luke Seaborn, the face of Georgia’s Medicaid work requirement, got kicked off the program — twice — due to technical glitches and red tape. Following inquiries by The Current and ProPublica during the reporting of this story, the state restored his insurance on Monday.

Dems are really going to try and spend the next few weeks arguing over Biden's fitness for office *while we're in the middle of an segregationist, authoritarian takeover of the federal government*. Absolutely fucking baffling.

@adambonica.bsky.social probably has thoughts.

1/🧵 What if Democrats' best strategy to fight GOP corruption isn't matching Republican billionaire money but refusing it entirely? My empirical analysis shows why rejecting mega-donors and corporate PACs is both principled AND pragmatic. Let me explain…

I always thought that habitual offender laws and three strikes laws emerged in the 1990s as part of the tough-on-crime era. But then I was looking through old state codes and I saw a three strikes law from 1923. Then I found dozens from around this time, and wondered (naively) what was going on.

A group of Quakers are marching more than 300 miles to demonstrate against the Trump administration's crackdown on immigrants. Organizers of the march say their protest seeks to show solidarity with migrants and other groups that are being targeted by the administration.

There's something worth exploring in the relationship between our relentless focus on grades / academic "achievement" and the AI cheating end-game where we've arrived. Might try writing something on this.

I got the best teaching evals of my career for a large course last semester— along with three teaching awards— after rebuilding my intro class around in-class handwritten essays. I simply do not believe that this is unsolvable or that students don't care about actually learning to do their work.

It’s funny because I grew up as a Black kid during the 90s and if “people think we’re bad” was as determinative as it’s being depicted me and everyone I know should be dead by now.

The bipartisan belief that America would be a better place if *other people* worked in a factory. www.ft.com/content/8459...

This misses another key point: the parts of Biden agenda's which passed through Congress were all policies which indirectly impacted people through the administrative state. The parts of Biden's agenda which failed in Congress were the ones which would have directly impacted people's lives.

My thoughts from watching right wing media work over the last decade… changing language around diversity, equity, and inclusion is a trap. You end up confirming their allegations that your commitments to DEI were wrong, and you’ll later be accused of covering up programs that you know to be wrong.

Think suspensions are key to classroom order? Think again. Evidence from Chicago public high schools shows that reducing suspensions through restorative justice doesn’t harm learning—and improves school climate, especially for Black students. By @aadukia.bsky.social . Read more: bit.ly/4jstK5j

Is it too wild to assume that 9% of respondents thought "The Black Plague" was a plague that only affected black people? It was confusing until I thought "Oh, right. Racism. Probably racism."

🧵 1/n We will hopefully have more on this and in much more detail in the coming days, but let’s talk about this exec order on accreditation for a minute. #EduSky www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/...

these people hate DEI because they would be unemployable in any system where they couldn’t rely on favoritism and nepotism

Trump's DEI actions are -9 with the general public www.pewresearch.org/politics/202...

I have a story about due process in a mass adjudicatory setting. A while back, there was this group called the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints that had a compound in rural Texas. Well these FLDS folks dressed funny (like bonnets and long dresses and suspenders and corncob pipes funny).

There is in fact no way to make a case for a moral or political obligation to have children that does not degrade the status and dignity of women by claiming ownership their bodies as instruments for collective use.

Our findings using CES data strongly affirm the post-election analysis and conclusions of @mikepod.bsky.social. Non-voters, particularly registered ones, lean Dem. The "high turnout hurts Dems" narrative isn't supported by the evidence and basing strategy on flawed ideas about non-voters is risky.

I highly recommend rereading all the smug "resistance is over" articles published between november and january. aged like milk

The people who said “wokeness” was totalitarian are applauding as dhs sends agents to college campus to apprehend students for thoughtcrime

🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave. Tell them: 1. Vote NO on Cloture AND 2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill. Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it. TODAY is the showdown. 🤳🏽: (202) 224-3121
