Editing an index on medieval rhetoric. What better soundtrack could I have than the last 24 years of Eurovision? A vocal contest with emphasis on performance/delivery. All about persuading the audience. Definitely ars poetriae. Looking forward to this year’s contest! #IndexSky #eurovision

Join Jolanta Komornicka, Pilar Wyman, Michele Combs, Devon Thomas & Gina Guilinger in the round-table session “X-Men United, Indexers Divided?: Differing Approaches to Indexing the Same Text”, where they discuss different approaches to indexing the same book. Register at www.conference.indexers.ca

You know your index is big when it takes Index-Manager nearly 30 seconds to export. 😬 I suppose that’s what happens when the book is 1400+ pages long. #IndexSky

Always exciting when indexing a multi-authored book and having a chapter by a scholar I read back in my academic days. It’s kind of like seeing an actor in a film after not seeing them in anything for 20 years. Hey, I remember you! So this is what you’re doing now? Cool! #IndexSky #academicsky

Ah, the #MetGala, when everyone posts pics and assumes that everyone else recognizes the celebrities. Thank you to those of you using alt text for all the real reasons, but also to help those of us with zero pop culture knowledge or ability to recognize famous people.

I did a thing! I said, “No.”

"to tear down a monument is not an act of politicizing history but rather a forceful rejection of claims to sovereignty that are no longer recognized. Opposing the removal of statues is not an act of protecting history but an act of protecting a certain authority to interpret history." 1/2

THE BIGGEST NEWS! Rob and I are offering up a hand-signed hardback, first edition/first printing copy of Monstrous Regiment straight from the Pratchett archives. Those who know the story will know why it’s a pertinent one for this cause. (More pics to come.) www.32auctions.com/organization...

Movie you’ve watched more than six times using gifs. (“Hard mode” no Star Wars, Star Trek, or LOTR)

Ever been friends with two people from separate circles and thought, “These two would really hit it off; I should have them both round for coffee”? I am there now with two authors whose books I’m working on. Mostly because I want to ask them how one work may deepen the argument in the other.

Who among us does not appreciate a good Reformation joke?

Three indexes returned in the last 12 hours. I think I need a break from the computer for a bit. #IndexSky

Context: I find baseball boring. Event: Kid asks me to explain the rules of baseball, knowing nothing about them. Apparently, my (neutral!) description of the rules is so good that kid now thinks baseball sounds awesome. I’m going to take this as a (weird) win.

Of course it’s when I have massive amounts of real work on my plate, with more coming in tomorrow, that I want to run to the library to research an article for the fun of writing an article. And I even like the books I have on my plate! Procrastination makes no sense. #AmIndexing

I’m really looking forward to this conference! I’m putting together a panel of indexers all indexing the same text (we have an amazing author and press willing to let us do this). If you want to present but you’re not sure on what, consider joining my panel! #IndexSky #SIConf25

Happy Transgender Day of Visibility! Pliny the Elder, writing 2000 years ago in Rome (NH 7.4), states, "Women transforming into men is 'non fabulosum'," which seems kinda rude, but means that it is ordinary, not fantasy. He lists examples, including Arescon, formerly Arescusa, & L. Cossicius.

In honour of both Trans Day of Visibility and Hug a Medievalist Day, let's give a shout-out to the amazing Roman de Silence. Here's a taste: When I wanted to be one with the women, in that way I thought to put myself at ease. I have too hard a mouth for kissing, and too raw of arms for accolades.

We’re hiring! The Indigenous Editors Association is seeking a part‐time, remote Administrative Assistant. For full job details, please visit our LinkedIn post: www.linkedin.com/posts/indige.... Kindly share with your network!
