In April of 1775, the citizens of what would become America said they would accept no king and started a war. Today we came back to say, "Did we stutter??"

Post a fictional death that devastated you This will just be a nest of "too soon."

That means more of the population showed up to protest and support No Kings Day than are currently serving in the US military. The US Army famously formed to overthrow a king on June 14th, 1775. Currently 0.4% of the US population serves in the military.

My thriller The Silent Places is on sale for $2.99 for the next couple of days (some stores might still be updating) because it's about rage, and I have rage, and you might have rage too. books2read.com/thesilentpla...

Honestly sort of boggled thinking about all the different ways this is going to go wrong. Perhaps I'm naive, but didn't expect us to slide into cyberpunk dystopia quite this easily.

Favourite thing in publishing is the assumption every corporation makes that writers are all solitary creatures who never talk to one another, when we're actually privately workshopping our "motherfucker, are you fucking serious with me right now?" letters into something more professional sounding.

Tip I learned years ago from a longtime organizer who is also an attorney: If you are not sure if a person approaching you is a cop, and you do not feel safe, drive to the nearest *fire department* and call 911 and tell them (don't ask) that you're stopping for the cop at a FD. Here's why.

You heard the Captain: NO KINGS IN AMERICA! #NoKingsDay

Watching Dept. Q. Matthew Goode was such a great cast for this. Long, moody moments where he just simmers.

Here's a fun fact. As of 2014 about 80% of LAPD officers did not actually live in the city. Makes sense. It's expensive. But as of 2021 a couple dozen aren't even living in the state. They fly back and forth. TX, AZ, ID for the most part. That's interesting, isn't it? I find that very interesting.

It feels weird to post about this but: I have a book out on Tuesday. Please buy it. I'd love to keep writing. If you can't buy it, please ask your library to order it. I'm signing here at 6PM on 6/17 with Sarah Hawley! There will be treats, chat, and books. www.villagebooks.com/book/9781464...

Today’s affirmations - say them with me: 👉The actions I take have an impact. 👉What I choose to do is important. 👉I believe in my ability to succeed.

I hope Darius Rucker wins it the first year.

Describe a favorite movie in the most misleading way possible. Actors learn that TV is real.
