I have a speed limiter on my ebike…but they should really be put in all the cars.

one of the most insane normalized aspects of our political climate is politicians going after their own constituents in the name of anti-wokeness. what are we doing here

TfL research shows 20mph limits cut deaths and serious injuries by 34% on London roads. Collisions and child casualties also dropped. Lower speeds support Vision Zero, making streets safer and encouraging walking and cycling without increasing congestion. tfl-newsroom.prgloo.com/news/powerfu...

I was painting a crosswalk yesterday and I sneezed and a cyclist going past in the bike lane yelled “bless youuuu” as he rode by, and that’s the kind of small human interaction you just can’t get in a car

Oopsies!

Can't be overstated how fucked up it is that Black folk came up with a word to express people being aware of the oppression of other people and it's now targeted by far right governments globally as something evil that must be destroyed

If Canada is to double the pace of home building—and it should—big cities can't be allowed to continue banning apartments on the vast majority of residential land. Will the new federal government—or any level of govt—finally bring this destructive ban to an end? vancouversun.com/opinion/op-e...

Could you pull over a van with six kids to enjoy an excavator at work on a quiet riverside trail? I didn’t think so.

This is *chefs kiss*

If the almost 1.4 BILLION Catholics of the world, and every other moral person of good will and judgement, really wants to honour the life, leadership and faith of Pope Francis in the wake of his sad passing, they would fight to make LAUDATO SI, his powerful call for climate action, a REAL priority.

Sign of the day…

I wish he could see.

“Many were afflicted by poverty, abuse. Maybe they were hungry or dropped out of school. There were so many issues we could have addressed. We could have prevented some of these crimes before they happened." Must-read from @bolts.bsky.social

All of Canada’s top non-U.S. trading partners have carbon pricing systems and roughly half have carbon border tariffs and EV sales requirements. Industrial carbon pricing in 🇨🇦 can help the country compete in this new economic environment ⬇️

They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made. -FS Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, published 4/10/1925.

The future of our country is too important to keep leaving to politicians who won a majority with just 40% of the vote. That's why we must demand proportional representation. #cdnpoli #Election2025

One man just wiped out $10 trillion in wealth, is destroying centuries-old legal protections, and seems determined to unravel humanity’s greatest public health achievement. In 3 months. I don’t know how we get out of this. But if we do, one person can never have that kind of power again.

For my Patreon blog, I wrote about how this week's economic collapse is the culmination of the media's legacy of failure to contest conservative ideas that simply do not ever work. Florida Sheriff hits child with his car in order to arrest him for riding his bike in the street www.sun-sentinel.com/2025/04/01/v...

Love this piece on the magic of riding an e-bike by @elizabethendicott.bsky.social, especially this part about how riding a bicycle can be a gateway to civic engagement. www.theatlantic.com/family/archi...

" If I could change anything, what I would change first is making sure that people who don’t have the option of driving get to redesign our land use and transportation systems." @nondriver.bsky.social for @publicola.bsky.social

biking/walking everywhere is so goated. i love when people ask me if it took me a long time to park. i have literally no idea what you're talking about! i was mentally cataloguing every bird i saw in the tree tops on my way here!

We could be working together to stop the physical irreversible overheating of our planet but instead were desperately trying to save democracy from these dumbass man-children. What a waste

After asking Eby about Daylight Saving Time, I followed up with a question about BC's tariff response. I was curious if the B.C.'s friendly relationship with Washington State may have tempered its tone in responding to Trump. I wrote this story based on his answer #bcpoli

I know this is a depressing time BUT a tiny bit of good news Virginia electeds last week passed HB2096, which wld require Intelligent Speed Assistance (speed limiters) in the cars of repeat reckless drivers Waiting on Gov's ✍🏻 rn 📞 him if u live in VA www.familiesforsafestreets.org/safe-vehicles

Protected bike lanes calm traffic and make *everyone* safer, including drivers "injury collisions along Fell dropped by 45% after the [protected] bike lane was installed, according to SF Open Data. Most crashes involved cars hitting cars or other objects – not bikers or pedestrians"

"During these negotiations, President Trump's actions led Canadians to unite in solidarity, and that is absolutely terrible for my brand!"

I don’t know why it shocks me every year to see the traffic go crazy when the school year starts. It’s a good time to reflect on the societal benefits if a) more kids attended their nearest school and b) we took safe routes to school seriously.

Time to turn off the taps. Not a single bottle of American wine, beer or bourbon should be sold anywhere in Canada. From here on in I will only drink "freedom" wines from Canada, France or Spain. As for the beer? It's shit anyways. True. North. Strong. Free. @strongasfuck

B.C.’s LNG expansion is a public health risk. Calvin Sandborn and @drmelissalem.bsky.social highlight how fracking and LNG pollution worsen respiratory illness, heart disease, and climate impacts. To protect our health, we MUST phase out fossil fuels and invest in clean energy.
