Today, we celebrate another business expansion in Illinois. With the completion of Jel Sert's West Chicago facility, we're not only strengthening the local economy but also supporting our state's economic development. That's jobs and opportunities created to benefit everyone.

I enjoyed meeting with some local realtors from Central and Southern Illinois this week! We had a great conversation about what Congress can do to support a vibrant real estate market across the United States.

Our new Surplus to Success program, the most significant site readiness investment in Illinois' history, will turn old state properties into economic development opportunities. Rather than let them sit idle, they'll be engines of investment for businesses to take advantage of.

When I was growing up, my dad lost his job and we relied on food stamps to survive.

With Trump’s tariffs raising the costs of food, Republicans' big, ugly bill would slash SNAP.

In Trump’s America, families lose. Every time.

This isn’t immigration enforcement. These are police-state tactics that target people who did it “the right way,” not “criminals” or “gang members.” This is fascism and has nothing to do with law-and-order. elpasomatters.org/2025/06/03/i...

"Ukraine is not a victim state anymore. It’s a 21st-century arsenal of democracy. And it's showing us what it looks like when courage, creativity, and technology meet a brutal invader. Now it’s up to us: Do we finish what Russia started—or leave? adamkinzinger.substack.com/p/ukraines-c...

Reps. Jayapal, Randall, and Dexter visited Tacoma’s ICE detention center unannounced, uncovering serious concerns: no outdoor time and no access to emergency calls. These are human lives that deserve dignity and oversight. We must demand transparency and accountability.

Whether it’s tornadoes here in the Midwest or the start of hurricane season on the coast, Americans deserve to know that help is on the way when disaster strikes. The Trump administration’s cuts to NWS, NOAA, and FEMA make our communities less safe.

Speaker Johnson keeps lying, telling Americans the GOP is "not cutting Medicaid." While Joni Ernst is flat-out telling her constituents that "we're all going to die" anyway.

Too often, the Medicare Advantage prior authorization process forces physicians to spend more time doing paperwork than seeing patients. I’m proud to cosponsor the Improving Seniors Timely Access to Care Act to cut this red tape and make it easier for seniors to get the care they need.

Big things get done in Illinois. We've balanced our budgets, raised the minimum wage, enshrined the right to choose, enacted a nation-leading climate plan, and rebuilt our infrastructure. And I look forward to getting even more done for working families across our state.

Joni Ernst’s recent comments have inspired a democratic challenger to run for Iowa’s Senate seat.

Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics provide mental health & addiction treatment to folks who otherwise wouldn't have access. After we pushed Secretary Kennedy to reverse his decision to cut their funding, I’m glad to see the new HHS budget request include $385 million for these clinics.

Illinois' seventh balanced budget in a row advances our state's growing record of fiscal responsibility. All while continuing our investments in education, health care, public safety, and jobs for working families. From start to finish, it's for the people of Illinois.

The Constitution’s Emoluments Clauses are a key safeguard against corruption, among the few provisions that apply to the president himself. Now more than ever, it is critical that Congress take action to give them real effect.

The Trump Slump is affecting every state. That's why the Illinois General Assembly and I doubled down on fiscal responsibility. Despite all the headwinds from DC, Illinois' FY26 balanced budget invests in the future of our communities from education to health care.

If you do well in high school, you're now getting into Illinois' public universities automatically. Seeking a higher education is more affordable and accessible than ever before, thanks to our FY26 balanced budget.

With this awful terror attack in Colorado, Congress needs to ask how many federal resources have been pulled from counterterrorism to deport Hispanics?

Da Pope, Chicago’s very own beer. Make sure to stop by and grab one for yourself while you can at Burning Bush Brewery.

President Trump promised to lower prices, protect American industry, and bring home good-paying jobs. Instead, he has started a trade war that is driving up costs and hitting our local economies hard. Last week, I visited two small businesses to hear about these impacts firsthand.

I’ve been marching for LGBTQ+ rights since Pride was considered a protest. And I’ll continue to march under this administration as a recommitment to the fight for equality today. No matter who you are or who you love, you have a home here in Illinois.

The Trump administration’s cuts to education are hitting at the heart of our communities. I joined a town hall in East St. Louis last week where we made it clear that we’re not backing down from the fight to protect our children’s future.

According to AP, the typical pay package for S&P 500 CEOs rose to $17M last year — an increase of 9.7%. At half of the companies surveyed, it would take the median worker 192 years to make what the CEO did in one year.  This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

Horrified by today’s terror attack in Colorado. Antisemitism has no place in our nation and we must continue to unite together against such hatred. Our hearts are with the victims and their loved ones.

I’m horrified that antisemitism has once again struck another American community. Boulder is a special place to me and my family — my heart is with the city tonight and the victims and their families. We must all stand with our Jewish neighbors and against hate in all its form.

Yesterday’s attack in Boulder, CO is horrifying and heartbreaking. I am praying for their swift recovery of the eight individuals who were injured. We must continue to speak out against the disturbing rise of antisemitism that threatens the safety of Jewish communities across the United States.

Horrified by the terror attack against peaceful protesters in Boulder, Colorado. My heart goes out to the victims and their loved ones in the wake of this unspeakable tragedy. Hate of any kind has no place in our country. This vicious antisemitism has to stop.

The Illinois Senate just voted to pass the FAIR Act! The bill is now headed back to the House for concurrence. Illinois is incredibly close to securing a statewide office of public defense!

Data harvesting and collection is what tech oligarchs were always after. They had no intention of saving money or reducing U.S. debt.

A decade ago, Illinois was plunged into a budget impasse that disrupted the lives of working families. The times have changed — nine credit upgrades, seven balanced budgets, a $2.5 billion Rainy Day Fund, jobs at an all-time high, and a growing economy.

Local government is making positive change, even when the state and federal government aren’t. On the county board, I voted to allocate $2 million towards building a “Life and Workforce Readiness Center,” a project led by an area nonprofit to help youth find their passions and develop life skills!

The passage of the FY26 balanced budget is a testament to Illinois’ fiscal responsibility. Even in the face of Trump stalling the national economy, we're delivering for working families without raising their taxes — and while protecting progress for long-term fiscal health.

Our seventh balanced budget was focused from start to finish on Illinoisans. It not only advances our state's growing record of fiscal responsibility but also continues our investments in education, health care, public safety, and jobs. I'm proud to say we delivered for them.

Chag Sameach! Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful day of celebration, reflection, and togetherness.

BREAKING: SB 1797 and SB 2319 passed — Illinois will be the first in the Midwest to protect consumers and businesses transacting in cryptocurrency and other digital assets. Grateful for Sen. Walker, Sen. Ellman, Rep. Gonzalez, and Rep. Tarver in getting these bills to my desk.

Republicans' Big, Ugly Budget is a triple threat to the American people. 1. Robbing our kids, seniors, veterans, and families of health care. 2. Leaving many without enough food to eat. 3. And imploding our nation's deficit. Just to hand more tax breaks to billionaires.

Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈 No matter who is in the White House, I will always celebrate, defend and lift up our LGBTQ+ community.
