I stopped eating steak years ago when I realized I didn’t like the steak, I like all the seasoning and marinade and stuff

What a telling exchange here. Scholar @kateshaw.bsky.social with the analytics and the scholarship just bursting a hole in these political theatrics. Watch the staffer's reaction.

They're literally doing the meme

Here's the thing about improved street lighting, affordable housing, cognitive behavioral therapy for young men, drug treatment, mental health access, speed cameras, and and and and and: They reduce crime. AND they can't try to arrest members of Congress.

i'm a sucker for when they swap out one letter in fantasy books. "on black wings arrived a magpye." hell yeah dude. i know basically what that means but also that it's weird-looking somehow

this was a great episode when they were discussing the relationship between the three functions of money, I thought to myself “this must be what it was like debating the Arian controversy at the Council of Nicaea in 325”

if you’re in DFW you can see the Michelangelo in person at the Kimbell Museum

Jonathan Joss--voice actor of John Redcorn from King of the Hill, and Ken Hotate from Parks and Rec--was killed in a homophobic hate crime today. I'm so angry.

would Ken Paxton as the GOP nominee be the best chance for a statewide Dem victory we’ve seen in the last 30 years?

Opposing the violent dehumanization of Palestinians in Gaza and the ongoing genocide is a moral imperative. Opposing the rising antisemitic violence against Jewish Americans is a moral imperative. All human lives have value and should be treated as sacred. Dehumanization harms all of us.

said it before and I’ll say it again: other countries need to start treating the United States government like a rogue state impose sanctions on members of the Trump family/admin deny them travel visas file charges in The Hague

read this and immediately thought of The Democrats! plan to reach young men (from Paulo Freire’s “Pedagogy of the Oppressed”)

Your key takeaway from the brilliant Ukraine attack with small drones into Russia shouldn’t be “wow, small drones make it so easy to score huge hits,” it should be “wow, Ukrainians are insanely good at covertly planning and executing extraordinarily difficult missions of which drones are one part”.

1. The FPV drone tech Ukraine used here has been around for a while, though it was used very ingeniously. 2. The Ukrainian attack using these drones relied upon what sounds like over a year of extraordinarily precise logistics, planning, and training. This is not something just anyone could do.

In Game of Thrones, Davos Seaworth - The Onion Knight - smuggled food (including lots of onions) into a city that was under seige and starving. Today, Liam Cunningham, the actor who played Ser Davos, will try to sail to Gaza to bring food to kids and adults who are starving under Israel's seige.

this could have gone a lot of ways, but this was…certainly an interesting choice

i remember the first time i heard nirvana in somewhere like a Target or Kohls...it was...odd. and i'm talking plugged in nirvana, not acoustic nirvana

I’m all for evaluating government structure and reorganizing when it makes sense but I absolutely do not trust the ghouls currently in power to do so in good faith.

Rick Steves’ “Fascism in Europe” should be required watching for every student and voter in this country.

this is an absolutely amazing and delicious thread

For @thebarbedwire.bsky.social, I dug into data first reported by @404media.co and found that Texas law enforcement agencies conducted at least 180 immigration-related searches this year using an AI-powered automatic license plate reader network. thebarbedwire.com/2025/05/30/t...

I interview kids applying to my alma mater 1) it’s a numbers game…growth in demand far outpaces growth in supply 2) kids today are more qualified than ever…it’s scary…I wouldn’t have been able to compete with today’s kids 3) this entitlement mindset is vile 4) this is such an obvious grift

IRS’s Direct File wasn't open source while it was being developed. But somebody just made it public!

I heard a lot of this thinking from conservative White Evangelicals I interviewed about Covid. They knew they and others might die, but they didn't care. Because they figured if they died, they'd go to heaven sooner. And they figured if non-believers died and couldn't go to heaven, that's on them.

A lot of people know about the Germans in the space program, but the more relevant engineer might be Qian Xuesen, the MIT/CalTech aerospace professor who co-founded JPL and was sent to recruit the Germans. We deported him the 1950s. He became the leader of China’s missile program.

"If there were justice in the world, Musk would never be able to repair his reputation... Musk’s sojourn in government has revealed severe flaws in his character — a blithe, dehumanizing cruelty, and a deadly incuriosity. This should shape how he’s seen for the rest of his public life."

The total lack of concern or awareness from these people that they have just participated in unprecedentedly illegal, unconstitutional, destructive activities that have killed people & dismantled essential public functions suggests they are not only arrogant & ignorant schmucks, but also sociopaths.
